There you will choose one workof art from the selection available and visit it in person (You will be required to submit an imageof yourself next to the work of art as veriªcation). You will develop a paper that employs formalanalysis to arrive at a fuller understanding of the historical and cultural signiªcance of the workof art. This paper will demonstrate your ability to articulate a clear and focused argumentsupported by analysis and research. You need to use external sources, which are to be citedusing Turabian citations. Your paper should run between 1000-1800 words (3-5 pages).!The ªnal papers will be handed in as a hard copy on December 4th, and must be posted onThis means your writing will be publicly available, and youare encouraged to develop your paper with a public audience in mind (make it lively, clear, andengaging!). To that end, you are also encouraged to integrate images, video, audio, andinteractive media that supports either your discussion of the work or offers further historicalcontextualization. You are encouraged to design your own media, but can use images etc. fromthe web as long as they are accurately credited!!!On October 30th, you will bring a hard copy of a ªrst draft (at least 2 pages complete) to class.Make sure there is some blank space on the back of your paper. You need not put your nameon it, as they will be redistributed randomly among the class. Over the course of the next week,you will read the paper you have received and make comments on the content, structure, andstyle of the draft.
