Section A (20 marks):
a. Form a group of 3 students that you will work with for this assessment.
b. This task requires you to do your research on the country assigned to you. You have to know
the economic, political, social, and cultural dimensions of the country. You have to know
the challenges that you can face and ways to manage these challenges.
c. This is the scenario:
1. Your group is working in a sportgoods chain company known as YellowTails. The top
management team decided to expand the business in a new territory/country and your
group has been given the task to do the work and explore potentials and challenges in
this new territory/country.
2. Using the global mindset framework, how will you set‐up YellowTails sportsgoods chain
in this new territory/country?
‐ Global Mindset definition: ‘An individual’s stock of knowledge, cognitive, and
psychological attributes that enable him/her to influence individuals, groups, and
organizations from diverse sociocultural systems’ (Beechler & Javidan 2007)
‐ Use the components of your global mindset, namely: intellectual capital,
psychological capital and social capital.
c. Your report must have 3 main parts:
An Introduction. In this part, you are to briefly discuss the profile of the country
assigned to you in terms of economic, political, social, and cultural dimensions.
Integration and synthesis. In this part, you are to put together the research that you
collected and answer the following questions:
How will your group venture into this new country? What will help or hinder your
entry?
What are the challenges that your group will encounter in this new territory? Be
specific.
Conclusion. In this part, you are to give suggestions and recommendations on what you
need to do to manage the challenges and ensure that the business is established and
operates smoothly.
