Select a theoretical concept within the field of intercultural communication or the broad field of communication, e.g. accommodation theory, interculturality, intercultural communicative competence, identity, cultural assimilation, cultural shock. Carry out a literature review. Please make sure that you consult the recent research articles and research monographs. Write a critical review discussing a) the origins and the key arguments of the concept concerned, e.g., who proposed the concept and in what context? Are there any other researchers whose names worth mentioning? What are the key questions and assumptions? What is the main disciplinary background? b) debates or controversies related to the concept, c) use one or two empirical studies in the literature to demonstrate how the concept can be applied to practice and discuss the (in)validity of the concept.
