Guidelines for Writing a Discussion Question Paragraph
Your responses should effectively satisfy these requirements for a well-developed paragraph:
(1) Does the first sentence (the topic sentence) answer the question? If there are two or more questions, does the topic sentence answer all the questions?
(2) Do the support sentences support the topic sentence by containing specific, concrete details (such as examples from the reading) that support the topic sentence? Do any of the sentences go off topic (dont support the topic sentence)?
(3) Is the paragraph unified (focused on one idea) and coherent (reads smoothly)?
(4) Are the sentences clear, concise, and arranged in a logical order? Is there sentence variety?
(5) Are there transitions, pronouns, and repetition used to provide coherence?
(6) The length of all discussion question responses will be a minimum of 150 words and a maximum of 250 words.
