Content: Essay #1 contains two parts: (1) it must summarize a text giving specific facts, details, and information as directly presented, and (2) it must present the student’s personal thoughts and ideas about the information in the text. The response should answer questions such as, “Do I agree/disagree with the author’s point?” “Do I have a similar experience to share?” “How would I respond if I was the character in this text?” The essay must include a clear introduction with topic, body with both summary and response, and definite conclusion.
