MGT 2325/MGT 2355 Leadership Individual Leadership Simulation Reflection Report Overview
Leadership skills can be practiced and developed. In this course you will be learning leadership theory and be asked to behave as a leader. The team leadership simulation takes place in conjunction with your team completing the case study.
Each week your team will select one team member to lead your team’s activities during that week. The team leader is responsible for; organizing a team meeting, leading communication during that week, moving the team forward towards their weekly objectives, assigning tasks, providing feedback, dealing with any conflict, and following up with team members.
At the end of the week each team leader will complete a self-reflection report assessing how they felt they lead the team. The other team members will be responsible for providing feedback to the weekly team leader. Ensure your team follows the team debrief guide while providing feedback. Each individual will be responsible for submitting a report about their leadership practice including team feedback and self-assessment. The report should answer the following questions:
1) was your leadership week a success? Why or why not? Ensure you include leadership theories and models from the text to evaluate your leadership.
2) What were your leadership areas of strength? What were your areas of development? Please reflect on why some leadership activities were easier for you to perform than others.
3) When you were not leading the team were you an effective follower?
4) What did you hear from your team during the in-class debrief sessions? Based on what you heard from your team how will you work differently in the future with teams?
