Illegal use of agriculture pesticides to control rats!

A topic for the week is discussing transmission of disease and vector control. Create a tabloid style headline to capture the attention of citizens

informing citizens of disease transmission, vectors, mode of transmission, statistics, etc. Be creative. Example below.

Illegal use of agriculture pesticides to control rats!

South Africans are experiencing an increase in side effects of pesticides intended for agriculture use. Citizens are stealing agriculture pesticides

as those are least expensive, readily available, effective, and toxic; however, are not for domestic use. Rats are known carriers of leptospirosis,

rat-bite fever, murine typhus, and viral hemorrhagic Fever to name a few. Illegal pesticides are known to kill children under 10 kg and a high

number of poison cases are reported yearly due to accidental exposure. Alternative methods to pesticide use is the common rat trap as accidental

pesticide exposure continues to increase (Roomaney, Ehrlich, & Rother, 2012).
