MEDIA AND SOCIETY – PLEASE URGENT

Select one case-study related to the course. You cannot proceed before the instructor prior approval to the topic.
The case Must be related to the course, such as: media ownership, hate speech, propaganda, objectivity, representations of gender/race, social or political impact of social media, violence etc.
You should seek to present the case in a creative and well organized approach.
Conclude with recommendations related to the media literacy concept. You can use the 5 A’s of media literacy as a framework and refer to the media literacy concept or any other reliable reference in the field.
Make sure to prepare yourself and rehearse in advance, as you will be presenting your project in front of your classmates.
You have ten minutes to present. (I will be counting).
E.g. Propaganda Tactics
Fabrication: of facts, numbers, and testimonials
Omissions: exclusion of relevant or truthful information that works against the story’s thesis.
Contextualization: placing together of unrelated images or ideas to force an emotional or intellectual connection. This may causes the transfer of emotions from one scene to another.
Us Versus Them Manipulation
“Hate speech” spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt to incite violence against an individual or a group.
Labeling: representing a target with personal attacks or connecting them to a negative concept.
Manipulating Cause and Effect: playing on audience’s tendency to believe that correlation implies causation AND emphasizing simple, singular causes.
