We will observe reports of Schakleton’s leadership on a voyage to Antarctica (the organization, from start to finish) and consider how he could (even in the most ominous of situations) influence the sailors to maintain a culture of endurance and optimism. Students are required to write a short reflection piece on a “transformational moment” that might have altered the course of events during the voyage.
