Additionally, how did Mexico handle the same consideration(s) and eventually deport their Chinese? What factors resisted repatriation until the 1960s? What factors changed and allowed the displaced Mexican-Chinese to return from “exile” in China, Macau, and Hong Kong? Finally, what distinguished the Japanese treatment vs. the Chinese, and how did this influence the relocation and internment in the U.S. and other countries during the Second World War?
