It was a very exciting experience because I had the opportunity to interact with the residents and learn more about their lives, and their experiences they have live. You can mention here: My interview with Mr. L. who is 104 years it was great experience because even though he is 104 years old he still able to care for himself and do his own activities of daily living (ADL’s), do his banking , go to his own appointment, and still be able to remember all his memories of when he was a 10 years old. Also please mention about my experience with Mr. L. E. who is 94 years old and suffers from Dementia. The experience I have with this patient made me change my perspective of dementia which is even though the condition is there and they is probably control with medication these patients are still able to remember and have some memories about their lives and families. Mr. L. E. shared his stories when he enlisted on the NAVY when he was 18 years old and was trained as a pilot and was stationed in England then from there he was sent to go and fight the Germans during Hitler’s time. There were moments I could see the sadness in his face when he recalled the events and in particular when he mentioned about the little kids on the street of Germany being crying after the city was bombed. Please also write about my experiences at the nursing simulation lab these past two weeks which was a great experience and gave insight in what it is to be in real-life situation at the hospital and providing care for a dying patient in a hospice setting. For conclusion mention that I wish this experience would have being longer and my experience with these patients has helped me understand the process of aging in a different manner because a aging adult still maintain his own self he or she can teach you us so much from their experiences some of us may not be able to live and experience.
