| You will be expected to produce a paper at the end of the term. Your paper should be10 – 12 pages long, typed, double-spaced, printed in a normal-sized font (e.g. Times Roman) with 1-inch margins. For this paper, you need to make a sociological argument about an issue related to immigration. The paper involves an “argument†in the sense that you are going to make a point or observation and back it up with some scholarly evidence (drawing from both course material and your own research). Maybe you are interested in questions of race and mobility under neoliberalism; maybe you are interested in how the social imaginary is changing organizing strategies across transnational networks; maybe you are interested in the role of remittances in shaping (migrant) subjectivities. I leave the final decision up to you. Just remember that the content should be explicitly relevant to the course. You will need at least 3 citations from course readings and at least 3 outside academic sources Evaluation criteria: |
