Biographical & Intellectual Sketch on (Psychologist and philosopher William James).

***Write in PARAGRAPH form! Do not answer these as individual questions but rather as an essay/term paper***.

This complete original 8 page paper will have a minimum of 7 *** American scholarly sources***. Each source will have in-text citations. The results of this 8 page paper shall be presented in an APA style paper. APA style should consist of 1 inch margins all around, double spaced, Times New Roman Font 12, and at least 7 American Scholarly Source***.

Select one important figure in the history of psychology ***(Psychologist and philosopher William James)*** and provide an overview of his career including intellectual contributions of the field. In short, this is not a typical biographical sketch in that the focus will not be solely focused on personal information but rather their importance in the context of the history of psychology.

Questions to answer:

Who is this person? Where was he or she born? How might the culture and time of this person affect his or her outlook on human nature? Explain the time period in which this person lived in terms of culture, politics, religion, etc.

Who influenced this person? Also consider where and when this person was educated.

Did this person influence other psychologists? How? When? Where?

What was the nature of the person’s work?

How would this person describe human nature? Based on the person’s work, what do you think he or she would say are the causes of behavior?

What relevance does this person’s work have to psychology now?

A scoring rubric is provided below. Papers should be at least 2,000 words and should include at least 7 references using APA style conventions. Please include a title page in addition to the reference page – APA style!

Your grade will depend on how well you incorporate answers to the above questions in the appropriate depth and format.
