Using their understanding of group dynamics and processes as well as their observations, students will complete an analysis of the group in which they participated to develop the presentation activity above. This will include an assessment of the group’s dynamics, and a consideration of the communication patterns in their group, with reference to the literature.
This is NOT to be an appraisal of the presentation itself, but rather is an analysis of the group dynamics during the development of the presentation.
Students should develop this assessment at the same time as the development of the presentation – i.e. concurrent with the group’s development.
This part of the assessment is individual – students must develop and submit their papers individually.
Marking criteria are available in the attachment above.
Additional information:
All papers should include a introduction and conclusion. Given the length of the assignment these would have to be brief.
You may use headings & sub-headings. However, you do not have to use headings and sub-headings, particularly if you have a clearly defined structure.
The number of references you use is up to you. The important point is that they have to be appropriately used; you need enough to support your points. Generally, fewer than 5 sources will probably not provide enough information, and more than 20 would probably mean unnecessary repetition.
It is always better to use the primary source rather than something cited in another reference.
The perspective is up to you – you may use first, second and third person – but consistency is important
Assignments are confidential. You may use other group member’s names when providing examples. Alternatively, you may choose to use pseudonyms. Again, consistency is important.
Given the number of students completing this short assignment, it is possible that Turnitin index percentages will be fairly high. As always, there is no set ‘cutoff’ percentage. You need to check your document for large blocks of matching text, and reference correctly.
