Issue Paper: Topic that examines a subject in the field of public administration

Each student will decide on a topic that examines a subject in the field of public administration. This academic freedom has been granted in order to make this course more appealing (i.e. if students have a passion for a particular field or public issue, the assignment becomes an exercise the student can use for future work.)

The first portion of the assignment – the abstract – is more of a challenge than most students realize: Write a concise, but stand-alone written work that is 225-words or less — one that is able to sell the reader on the idea of reading the full written work. Upon writing their abstract, students will submit the same to the appropriate discussion forum for the ABSTRACT COMPETITION! Each student will be awarded up to 25 points in accordance with the rubric, but the winner of the competition will earn 10 EXTRA CREDIT POINTS! It should be noted that the winner will be determined by vote of all students in the course, as well as by instructor scoring according to the Abstract Rubric (found in the Files section of this portal).
