The Affordable Care Act was signed into law on March 23, 2010. This act substantially modified many policies surrounding health care and health insurance in the United States. Key provisions to cover include:
 Guaranteed issue & Community Rating  Individual Mandate  Establishment of Health Insurance Exchanges and Provision of Subsidies  Expansion on Medicaid
Students should provide descriptions of these provisions and theoretical predictions of the effects of these programs, including the effect on the market for health insurance. Students should then examine evidence gathered so far concerning the empirical effects of these programs, using research articles, public policy papers, and newspaper articles. Students should also examine the projected and actually effects of all provisions of the affordable care act on the federal budget.
