| After reading the case attached, please follow the guidelines below: The written report will include an executive summary (maximum of one page) and an expanded explanation of each area of analysis and recommendations. The format is to be determined by the team, but format selected should communicate each component of the strategic analysis in a coherent, succinct, focused manner. (Strategy Formulation Process) • Where is the threat? What are the characteristics that define the threat? (Identification of Competitors) • What is the vision and mission of the client? • What characterizes the external environment of the client? (PESTEL analysis) • What is the relationship between the client and the industry? (Porter’s 5(6) forces) • What are the positions of competitors? Where is the client? (Strategic group mapping – as many as required to understand the client’s positioning – set the stage for recommendations) • What are the best practices / key success factors for industry leaders? (specific examples) • What are the value propositions for customers in this industry? • How does the client measure success? • How well aligned is the client with opportunity? (VRIN/SWOT/Value Chain analysis) • Develop a robust list of strategically relevant actions the client could take. (SWOT matrix) • Select and explain in detail the best strategic actions for each of these categories: • Quick Win (no resources required, change of practice, immediate ROI) • Basic Action (low-to-no resources required, basic change of practice, immediate-to-short term ROI) • Intermediate Action (moderate resources required, moderate complexity to make the change, short-term ROI) • Advanced Action (moderate-to-high resources required, moderate-to-difficult implementation complexity, very attractive medium-to-long-term ROI) • Proposed Implementation for all options that shows interrelated action sequencing. (Strategic Roadmap) The video shall serve as a brief (5 min max) overview of the strategic analysis with audio visual representation that helps the viewer understand the problem, focus on the areas of analysis, and be effectively persuaded to accept strategic recommendations. Videos will be submitted via YouTube or Vimeo and must be shared with the professor for access during and after the presentation. The video should set the scene, focus the viewer on the problem, highlight the potential solutions, encourage questions and discussion. Visuals can be narration, slides, pictures… anything to creatively draw the viewer into focus. Think of the video as your marketing pitch for the validity of your team, your analysis, and your solutions. |
