Designed intervention

The assignment: (1-2 pages) Imagine that you are a counselor working with a child who is having some behavioral problems at her elementary school. As a scholar practitioner, you approach your work with her from an empirical standpoint and want to measure the effectiveness of your work. As such, you pose the following research question: “What impact does a designed intervention have in reducing off-task behavior, physical aggression, and verbal aggression for the identified child?” For the purposes of this research, the target behaviors for intervention are as follows: 1. Off-task – failure to maintain eye contact with task at hand for more than 3 consecutive seconds 2. Physical Aggression – hitting/pushing/kicking peers/teachers, throwing objects 3. Verbal Aggression – threatening, yelling Consider the following observation report: During the first observation period, which was conducted on Monday (in math class) between 11:20 and 11:30, 10-minute, 10-second, partial interval recording was used to assess the frequency of off-task behaviors, physical aggression, and verbal aggression. Kaya was observed to be off-task 12% of the intervals observed, engaged in physical aggression 0% of the intervals observed, and engaged in verbal aggression 2% of the intervals observed. During the second observation (during recess), which was conducted on Wednesday from 9:00 to 9:30, Kaya was observed to be off-task 15% of the intervals observed, engaged in physical aggression 20% of the intervals observed, and engaged in verbal aggression 3% of the intervals observed. Kaya was also observed on Friday from 10:30 to 10:40 during a group activity. Kaya was observed to be off-task 20% of the intervals observed, was observed to engage in physical aggression 7% of the intervals observed, and was observed to engage in verbal aggression 10% of the intervals observed. Off-Task Physical Aggression Verbal Aggression 12% 0% 2% 15% 20% 3% 20% 7% 10% Based on the above data, you determine that you must design a behavioral intervention for Kaya and determine if it is successful. As you begin the process of investigating your research question: • Briefly describe a time series design that you would use to investigate the impact of your intervention, and explain how you would collect and record the additional data. Be specific. • Select a method for graphically representing the provided data. Use the method to create a graph. • Analyze the data and provide a narrative description of your analysis. Support your Application Assignment with specific references to all resources used in its preparation. You are required to provide a reference list and to appropriately cite, in APA style, all references used within your assignment.

Your review should analyze several aspects of the text under consideration, including the argument, content, organization, main themes, and relevance for understanding the historical time period in which it covers (Decolonization and the struggle for African independence after World War II). A critical review essay is not a book report. It does not summarize the text; rather it analyzes the author’s arguments, evaluates his/her supporting evidence, and determines its contribution to the field of history. Review essays can be full of praise, disdain, or somewhere in-between but always approach the text with a critical perspective. Again, this is not a book report. You are not simply summarizing the book and what it is about. Review essays will be graded on your ability to indicate the book’s central thesis, main themes, evidence, and conclusions. Try to create an understanding of the book’s historiographical significance, and the contribution it makes to the field of history. To do this, it is expected that you will use secondary and perhaps even some primary sources to support your argument from both the course assignments and outside material (specifically the FIT Library and Databases). It might be best to begin by finding several academic reviews of the book you are reading. Use these reviews to help you understand both what a review essay looks like and how to construct your own critique of the text. Remember to make use of the textbook and other external readings we have used so far in this course. You should have a title page, footnotes or endnotes, and a bibliography, as well as page numbers on every page except the title page and the first page. A well-written paper is obviously more effective in presenting an argument than a poorly written one; thus the quality of the writing will affect your grade. You should make a concerted effort to present a cogent and focused argument in your paper. Your first or second paragraph should state your position clearly and concisely. Consider your audience to be an educated layperson who wants to understand the author’s thesis, the key commentary it makes to the historic time period, and your evaluation of it. If you are unclear about the parameters of a Critical Analysis paper, see this link from the University of Washington’s Writing Center: https://depts.washington.edu/pswrite/Handouts/CriticalAnalysisPapers.pdf You will turn in your paper online through the link in the Critical Analysis Module section of Canvas. I will be using the anti-plagiarism Turnitin.com software, so do be careful about quotations and material take from other sources. You will have until the end of the day (11:59 pm) on April 9, 2016 to turn it in. My teacher said I need to go into more detail on the subjects that were touched. the paper needed better transitions. i got a 70 and need an A this time. Tara

Read below forum and write a reply It would be helpful to understand not only whether differences exist on this topic between races and genders, but to further investigate why. One obvious reason that I would suspect that there would be a major racial divide is that man more African-Americans are sentenced to death than any other race. This would make me think that African-Americans would more likely be against capital punishment, but certainly we do not know until we run the numbers. Why does this matter? Racial and gender division is a major issue in our society, and certainly we can see that there are inequalities that need to be addressed in the legal system especially. It is important to understand how the population perceives these things to determine where we should focus our efforts in education and public policy. What variables can you use to measure correlations that are connected to your research question? Then, identify variables which you have found in the GSS dataset (be sure to identify the variable name AND the question asked in the survey). Explain why you chose these variables for your project and why you think there is a correlation or a relationship. The main variables from the GSS data set to consider are: Variable Name: gender1 (Assuming that the person filling out the questionaire would be the 1st person listed) Actual question: Gender of first person Explanation: Since I am interested in gender differences, the gender of the respondent would be necessary. Variable Name: cappun2 Actual Question: Are you in favor of the death penalty for persons convicted of murder? Explanation: Since I am looking into capital punishment attitudes, this question directly relates. Variable Name: race Actual Question: What race do you consider yourself? Explanation: Since I am interested in racial differences, the gender of the respondent would be necessary. Variable Name: (race1 – race 5 may be needed as well) Actual Question: Is (NAME) Asian, Black, Hispanic, White or something else? Explanation: Since I am interested in racial differences, the gender of the respondent would be necessary. Variable Name: hhrace Actual Question: Race of household. Explanation: Since I am interested in racial differences, the gender of the respondent would be necessary. Variable Name: concourt How much confidence do you have in. . . E. Courts and the legal system Explanation: Since I am looking into a law enforcement/court issue, it would be interesting to note the respondent’s attitude toward these institutions. Some others of interest may be: Variable Name: wksexism Actual Question: Do you feel in any way discriminated against on your job because of your gender? Variable Name: punleak Actual Question: I’m going to ask you about several offenses. For each case, indicate what you would consider to be the appropriate punishment when the offender is a military service member or government employee. B. Leaking sensitive information to a newspaper in order to influence public opinion about a controversial political issue. The offender received no money. Explanation: Since I am looking into a legal punishment/law enforcement/court issue, it would be interesting to note the respondent’s attitude toward similar ideas. Variable Name: punarms Actual Question: I’m going to ask you about several offenses. For each case, indicate what you would consider to be the appropriate punishment when the offender is a military service member or government employee. A. Stealing and selling weapons, ammunition, and explosives from a military depot. Explanation: Since I am looking into a legal punishment/law enforcement/court issue, it would be interesting to note the respondent’s attitude toward similar ideas. Variable Name: punenmy Actual Question: I’m going to ask you about several offenses. For each case, indicate what you would consider to be the appropriate punishment when the offender is a military service member or government employee. C. Stealing and selling copies of secret codes and other classified intelligence materials to an agent of a hostile foreign government. Explanation: Since I am looking into a legal punishment/law enforcement/court issue, it would be interesting to note the respondent’s attitude toward similar ideas. Variable Name: punfrnd Actual Question: I’m going to ask you about several offenses. For each case, indicate what you would consider to be the appropriate punishment when the offender is a military service member or government employee. D. Stealing and selling these same materials to a friendly foreign government. Explanation: Since I am looking into a legal punishment/law enforcement/court issue, it would be interesting to note the respondent’s attitude toward similar ideas. There are probably many other variables in the GSS dataset that might be of interest once I look deeper into this topic, but this is what I see on my first try. Please advise on any variables that you think might be helpful toward my topic.
