Topic – Human Resource Development

Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) have been in existence for over 30 years. These
systems provide management with information that aids in decision making, but they
also provide the organization with the ability to learn from various lessons and apply
corporate knowledge and the benefits of corporate history to the development of the
organisation. The type of organization that benefits from its lessons is often referred to
as “The Learning Organisation” (TLO). TLO’s often have more motivated staff, higher
degrees of innovation and faster learning.
This assignment requires you to research the relationship between KMS and the ability
of an organisation to evolve into a TLO.
You are required to conduct a comprehensive research and write an essay of 3500 words
discussing and critically analyzing the above issue. You are encouraged to use real life
examples of success stories and failed cases of above and conclude with
recommendations regarding the application of KMS in the deployment of a TLO.

How was the culture of competition during the cold war different on the “homefront”

Answer the following question with details from Plutopia, Dr. Strangelove, The Ugly American, The Quiet American, and at least 2 primary source documents from The Cold War. The bulk of the paper should be based on the two books and reflect a careful reading of both.
Question:
How was the culture of competition during the cold war different on the “homefront” (that is, in the U.S. and the USSR) as opposed to in other areas of the globe?
*****Note: By this point in the course, it is expected that you will use correct citations formats and ALL of the required sources. If you do not use both of the books extensively, the paper will receive a failing grade.
With regard to form, you must provide references for all material you use in the essay. Use footnote format including page numbers for the novels, and the title of the source and page number as it appears in Hanimaki and Wested, eds. The Cold War. Citations should substantially comply with Chicago Manual of Style. A quick cite guide can be located at: http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html
The essay should be at least 1200 but not more than 1400 words (one inch margins on all sides, Times New Roman 12 point font, double-spaced, black ink, and stapled in the top left corner).
Essays will be evaluated according to the criteria presented in the essay rubric attached. In general, evaluation will concentrate on:
*Your presentation of a well-organized, grammatically correct, and well-argued answer to the question.
*Your use of a significant range of details from the required sources. In other words, the broader your evidence base, the better. Also remember that simple repetition of what the author says and plot summaries will not produce a good result. You must analyze the evidence you present.
Your essay should have an introduction including a clear thesis, body paragraphs that analyze and provide evidence for your thesis, and a concluding paragraph.
*Your essay should be based on your own analysis of course sources-no outside sources should be used. Use of any outside sources without prior consultation with me will result in a grade of 0 for the essay. DO NOT TAKE INFORMATION FROM RANDOM INTERNET SOURCES.

Leadership Interview: you will be responsible for interviewing an individual you deem to be a Christian leader

For this assignment, you will be responsible for interviewing an individual you deem to be a Christian leader. This leader must be married, as you will also be required to interview his/her spouse. Spouses should be interviewed separately or in a setting where one spouse is not aware of the responses of the other spouse. You can choose the leader based on whatever criteria you deem important; however, be prepared to justify why you have chosen this individual as a leader worth interviewing.
The object of this assignment is to synthesize the components of a leader and explain how the person you chose fits into the category of leadership/ leader.

Interview: Interviewing:

You will interview the leader you chose and his/her spouse based on the interview guide. Remember, the purpose of this interview will be to assess what makes up the life of a leader. It is recommended that you record your interviews so you can listen to them again after the interview in order to reconnect with the data gathered.

Your assignment is to SYNTHESIZE the interview and must not be submitted as a question answer response. Submit a 6-7-page paper regarding the life of a leader using the data you gathered through the interview process. In this paper, you will find common themes that run through the interviews and, if necessary, quote the interviewees (make sure to use pseudonyms for all references to interviewees). This paper must be in synthetic form rather than in comparative form (Interviewee 1’s response followed by Interviewee 2’s response). Make sure to highlight information that the leader and spouse agree on as well as information that they disagree on.

Follow the outline below for the body of your paper; and separate sections using the headings of this outline:

1. Leader
a. Brief background of the leader and your justification for choosing to interview this person.
b. Brief background of the leader’s spouse.
2. Leadership Definition
a. How did the leader define leadership? How does his/her answer compare with the spouse’s definition of leadership; did he/she agree or disagree?
3. The Life of the Leader
a. What (in the life of your leader) makes him/her a good leader? Focus on his/her spiritual life, family life, and ministry/vocational life. Consider how the leader’s impact on his/her family affects his/her success in leadership.
4. Conclusion
a. What did you learn about the life of a leader from this interview? Explain how it influences your definition of leadership.

Actual Interview:

Interview Questions for the Leader:
Spiritual-Life of the Leader:
1. What spiritual disciplines do you commonly employ in your daily life?
a. Spiritual Disciplines: Prayer, Praise & Testimonies: It doesn’t have to be a very outward showing, showing daily praise. 24-7, the time you wake up, make New Grace, consistent communion with GOD. Try to be a witness and a example in my words and actions.
2. How do you structure your day to include these disciplines?
a. If it’s Mid-morning, then I determine that I’ve missed something. Keep your balance. Try to routinely talk to GOD, daily, preferably morning. Try to Fast at least 1 day a week. Through prayer and fasting- what stopped that, physical activities prohibited fasting regularly, Now monthly. Still praying, fasting not as frequent. Now, fast as required. Commit to a fast. For a certain purpose and for a certain reason. Consecration and dedication to GOD.
Family-Life of the Leader:
1. How do you balance your role as a leader and as father/mother, husband/wife?
a. Recognize that it is difficult to balance. Was frustrated initially trying to accomplish everything. Reprioritize daily, be satisfied with the things that get done. Committed to being a wife/caregiver. I have the support of my husband. My grandmother is very good as a patient. And Family is supportive. It’s okay to ask for help. We expect family members to reach out, don’t wait, reach out. Be flexible, priorities change.
2. How have you replicated your life in the life of your family?
a. You don’t realize that you are until after a certain point in their lives. Usually it’s in retrospect. Actions were always what was right at the time, consistency is the key. Sometimes it takes years later to realize the impact that you have in your children’s lives. They may not listen, but they observe. My sister and brother and I are very close, this is indicative of the relationship and standards that have been established. Accountability is key. If anything happens to us, it may negatively impact my family because of their high regard for our lives. Immediately, I think about the impact that have.
Ministry/Vocational Life of the Leader:
1. How have you replicated your life of leadership in those you lead or minister to?
a. Leader from behind, by coaching and cheering, and lead from middle by encouragement. I like to focus on leadership from the middle or from behind. You like to empower individuals. I prefer to take responsibility for actions. I prefer to be behind the scenes. Maturity enables this decision
2. How would you instruct an aspiring leader to begin the process of replicating themselves in others?
a. Personally I don’t want to force others to emulate my leadership style. I encourage others to pick and choose leadership characteristics. Humility causes me not to dissuade others from choosing a leadership characteristic that may better suite their personality. My strengths may be considered a weakness. Reality that there is no one solution, but the same thing that makes you content in your personal lives, should be the same virtues that you bring in the workplace. It is not a cookie cutter, per se. It’s never one perfect answer.
Leadership Questions:
1. How would you define leadership?
a. Leadership to me is the ability to influence from any position, but leadership is the motivation, organizational part of leadership. To know where you are. Helps to know where you are and why they’ve been where they are. Recognizing that status quo is ok, a lot of leaders want to change things all the time, but that might not be the option. To get everyone to move forward at the same pace is not reality. Patience is the key. Everyone must understand how change is viewed from every perspective. Communication is all part of the leadership. When we make a change at the HQs, it doesn’t resonate all across the Enterprise. We must understand each individual decisions that will benefit the . Each person must respect and understand the impacts from all levels.
2. What about your life do you think has made you a leader?
a. Personal Life- the same things that you do at home are the same things you should bring to the workplace. Oldest child had more responsibility. Innate because of the some of the roles and responsibilities. Oftentimes you don’t realize or accept it.
3. Is there anything else regarding the life of leaders that I have not asked that you think pertinent to an understanding of this topic?
a. I think you’ve covered it all. We’re telling our children that they can choose our role models. We look for those with letters behind their names. It often times goes back the basics- Mama and Grandma. Adults have roles models too, but our role models are those who don’t have any extensive education and/or specialized training. Our role models are those who’ve been tried by the fire and survived. These are the ones in which we learn our greatest lesson.

Popular portrayal: Choose one popular portrayal of a biblical story or book – Passion of the Christ

Choose one popular portrayal of a biblical story or book, either literary or visual. It should retell the story and not be a “documentary” examining the story.

A good option could be Passion of the Christ

Read or watch the selection and compare it to the biblical passage upon which it is based. What are the differences between the portrayal and the bible? What is an explanation for those differences?

The question you should focus on in your paper is: “how do changes made to the presentation of the material significantly change the content, message, or understanding of the biblical story?”

The grading rubric consists of:
Identification of the work studied (5pts)
Identification of the biblical passage (5pts)
Outline of the major differences between the work and the Bible (15pts)
Possible rationale for these differences (15pts)
Analysis of the effect of the differences on the audience (35pts)
Proper citations, spelling and grammar (25pts)

Secondary sources aren’t necessary, but give proper citations for any biblical quotations or other materials cited. I have to check to make sure citations should be in Chicago and I will let you know for sure tomorrow.
