Risk management

A Dashboard is a visual analysis tool that presents information and allows the user to interface with added data. Use Google Images to view the different Risk Management components in a Dashboard.

Develop a simple Dashboard for Mrs. Bee’s Popcorn Company with 4 to 6 metric devices. Mrs. Bee’s specializes in custom popcorn mixes, party gifts and tins, and monogramed memorabilia containers.

This does not have to be a working Dashboard, only a mockup of what you might expect. Use your own data for the headings provided below.

The Dashboard could include:

•The number of employees and their wages, the volume sold daily, weekly, and year to date (YTD)
•The cost of itemized products, the fixed costs (rent, electricity, etc.)
•The inclusion of events and holidays, a key risk chart, an impact/probability chart
•A transaction bar line or bar graph by time of day or day of week
•Additional measurable aspects that would impact the profits, losses, and operations of the business.

Executive Summary

Executive Summary
An executive summary is a concise statement of the unique solution you have developed to a big problem. It is a recommendation that you want an executive to read. Usually it is the best-written and most polished piece of a much longer document. This is because many readers (usually executives) may only look at the executive summary when deciding whether or not to read the entire document. In some companies, the executive summaries are distributed so that employees are informed as to what information is available, and interested readers may request the entire document.
As your final project you are to think of an original problem that you could solve using a MIS. Try to think of a problem you have and a system that you could implement (“If only you ruled the world! If only!”). Please note an inventory system may solve a problem but it isn’t original. You want to think of an original problem and solution, you don’t have to know or explain the specific “how to” at this stage.
Below is a very rough example. Of course you would have to expand on each section and more clearly accurately convey your ideas.
Ex. – The Problem: Limited parking at Wilmington University.
The Need: Wilmington University faculty, staff and students need to be able to find parking near the buildings that they are working in.
The Company: Wilmington University, a privately owned 4 year university in Delaware. Nearby competition includes the University of Delaware, Goldey Beacom College, Delaware State University. Wilmington University’s mission statement emphasizes that they are student focused. This system would make life easier for students, faculty and staff. It would cut down on time and gas consumption by eliminating needless driving.
The Solution: Weight sensors will be installed at each parking place. When a car leaves a parking space the sensor will indicate that it is vacant. Faculty, staff and students will have a map of parking spaces at WU that will display on their cars navigation system (GPS). Vacant spaces will light up in white, while filled parking spaces will be dark. A fee of $20.00/month would be charged for this service.
The Market: This would be marketed to employees, staff and students at the University. This system could be sold to other educational institutions, large corporations and municipalities that have limited parking facilities.
The Technology and Delivery: The basis for this system is sensor technology and GPS – global positioning systems. Etc. Etc.

You do not have to go into great detail about specific technologies or costs. Your executive summary will be no longer than 2 pages. In it you must describe these 8 factors:
The Problem: What is it that this MIS system is going to fix? Who has the problem?
The Need: Who will this MIS system help and why?
The Company: What is the company where this MIS system going to be? What is the industry this company participates in? Who does this company compete with? Does this new system fit with the company’s mission statement?
The Solution: How is it going to fix the problem? What are you going to do deliver to fix the problem? How is this solution going to set you apart from the competition?
The Market: Who will this affect? Is there a market for this? Can this system possible be sold to another market for a similar purpose?
The Competition: Who are your competitors? Do they have a similar system? Will this help your ROI?
The Technology and Delivery: What is the technology you will need? How will it be delivered? Who will be using it?
The People and the Plan: Who is going to execute the plan and why should we put our faith in them? How long will this system take before it is fully operational? Can it be phased in?

Include any other categories and information that would make an executive want to implement your plan!

Maoist labor organization

Which of the following five firms or industries is most Chinese?Jui Fu Hsiang; Qing period tea trade; Maoist labor organization; Hai’er; Wanxiang
Which of the following five firms or industries is most Chinese? Rank all five from most Chinese to least Chinese and give reasons for each ranking. To answer this question, you will have to develop your own definition of what makes a firm or industry Chinese and then apply that definition to the five examples.

Jui Fu Hsiang
Qing period tea trade
Maoist labor organization
Hai’er
Wanxiang

The key to a good answer will be inclusion of the following four elements: 1) An argument, 2) A conceptual framework (feel free to use the Quick and Dirty Guides to help structure your conceptual framework), 3) Use of concrete examples (drawn from lectures and the case studies), 4) Consideration of the historical context.

You could use examples in the following manner, “As seen in the large debt loads of Japanese companies,” or “such as the collusion of political imperialists and business people in the nineteenth century opium trade,” or “as seen in the desire of the Mitsui Trading Company to eliminate middle men,” etc. As always, limit your examples to the course materials. Use of outside materials will result in a reduction in your grade.

Hedge-fund management and UK government regulation in responses of economic crisis 2008

You are required to submit the proposal for your research investigation leading to the final Project.
(1) Introduction (220 words)
Start your work from a provisional title explaining your research direction and a single paragraph (not
too long) introducing the area/problem you intend to research, including aspects of it that are relevant
to the following discussion.
(2) Key literature and theoretical background of the topic of investigation (800 words)
What is already known on your topic? What theories and concepts are relevant to the topic? Make
sure you give adequate consideration to the classics in your topic area, the landmarks, and the most
recent developments. What policy or business implications have been derived out of this? What gaps
in knowledge remain to be addressed? What is your proposed research question?Present the key literature in critical manner, either chronologically (tracing the development of the
field over time) or comparing similarities and differences between authors and schools of thought.
(3) Methodological Choice Justifications (900 words)
In this part of the proposal you are required to provide a critical reflection on the key methodological
approaches used in a chosen area of investigation and justify your own methodological choices.
In order to successfully complete part 3 you are advised to:
Find a number of good quality refereed academic articles in your field of research where authors
describe and justify their methodological approaches well (not less than 5); Critically review the
methods that have been used by researchers (identify and cite the articles individually) and decide
which are relevant to your research and justify why they are relevant. With regards to the articles you
feel are not relevant, explain why they are not relevant (If you decide none are relevant, say why they
are not relevant and how you intend to proceed under the circumstances – careful, this is a hard
position to defend!). Those articles which you declared ‘not relevant’ do not count towards required
minimum of sources for review. When criticizing clearly name the approaches, methodologies and
methods as those are known in the academic literature. Review how researchers in the field approach
setting research questions; search, present and analyze data. Reflect on whether researchers are
independent (of)/involved (in) their research subjects. Relate what you say to your own proposed
research investigation in detail. Since this is an early stage in your research this might involve some
guesswork on your part as to what your research will consist of. Please don’t worry about this because
speculation will assist in your critical reflection. Nobody is going to hold you to any choices or
arguments you make at this stage. The point is to test your awareness and understanding of the methodological issues relevant to your research. Be critical of your own position – a reflexive
awareness of the difficulties of any approach/position is more important (in this assignment) than
trying to defend any particular position. Throughout the text refer specifically to the sources you have
read and the positions/arguments you form by using the Harvard referencing style.
(4) Draft of the Research Instrument (600 words)
In this part you are required to design a draft of your proposed questionnaire or interview questions /
answer options based on research question of interest. This part should not be longer than 1000
words.
• If you intend to use a questionnaire, make sure you draft the key questions and option
answers in a clear and readable style (at all time, think of your potential respondents);
• If you intend to use an interview, develop the questions and briefly explain what kind of
answers you are hoping to receive from your potential respondents;
• If you propose to use secondary data, you need to be very specific which data sources or
databases you are going to use, what kind of data you intend to find and how you are going to
interrogate it.
(5) Expected Findings (100 words)
What is it that you are wishing to find as a result of your research? Evaluate strong and potentially
weak points within the investigation? Will you have sufficient and good quality date to make relevant
conclusions? Is there a future direction to your investigation?

Diana Vreelands life in relations to Womens US History

This paper will explore the life history of a Diana Vreeland BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY how HER LIFE relates to themes in WOMENS U.S. history.

Dianna Vreeland was born in Paris but moved to the US at a very young age and lived most of her life in the US. The main objective of this paper is to relate her life to everything that women were going through politically socially economically etc since the year she was born(1903) to the day she died (1989). This paper is more about relating her life to womens history than it is about her personally. (it’s both)

********Think about what your study of womens U.S. history brings to your understanding of THIS woman’s life. What does THIS woman’s life add to your understanding of U.S. history?********

The book that this paper should be loosely based on is called D.V. by Diana Vreeland- it should be able to be found online but if not it is available on iTunes for $11.99 and I am willing to pay if necessary.

Please inform me of any questions about any of this.

Plato, Aristotle, and De Pizan

The topic is more creative — you will need to build a dialogue. I have also attached it in MSWord format, so you can download it ans use it as your template for writing your dialogue.

Final Essay topic

Please continue the dialogue below until you reach 1500 words in total (so you write about 1300 words).

Rules:

1. Involve in the dialogue: Plato, Aristotle, and De Pizan.
2. Have long enough sentences spoken by each. Don’t exaggerate with sentences like “Yes” or “No”, or “Indeed”.
3. I will evaluate your dialogue according to how well you represent these three authors in the dialogue.
4. Do not depart too much from the topic I have set up. In other words, do not change the topic too much unless the new topic is clearly connected with what has been going on.
5. Each character should both challenge what another character has said, and defend himself or herself against those challenges.
5. Do not copy any sentences from your colleagues. I will check for originality.

Dialogue starts (characters: Plato, Aristotle, De Pizan) – Your essay starts here (in your submission delete whatever I wrote above – rules, etc.)

Aristotle: I respect my teacher, Plato’s work very much, but his mistake is to think that “the good” is universal. When it comes to human affairs, the good is very diverse. My virtue ethics accommodates this fact, as I don’t offer a universal recipe for the good life, but tell you what it means to be virtuous according to various particular situations.

De Pizan: Well, you talk about virtue relative to one’s social or gender identity. You say, for instance, that women’s virtue is something different from men’s virtue, and that women’s virtue has to do with raising the children and taking care of the household. That does not seem very sophisticated and well thought through. Women are no different from men in value, even when it comes to science, philosophy, politics, and matters of state administration. So a woman who has undeniable talent for military strategy would, according to you, not be virtuous, because she would rather be on the battlefield organizing and leading the troops than at home cooking for you. That seems absurd.

Plato: At least, in the Republic I explicitly mention that women can very well be guardians and some of them even elite guardians, to qualify for ruling. I do believe that human value is independent of gender. Of course, I also say that producers, people born with lower intellectual capacities, are not to be allowed to meddle in military or state affairs, but that is not a prejudice, as Aristotle’s view about women seems to, but an empirical observation to the effect that a state run by ignorant people would be inefficient and would soon be destroyed.
