Problem of Transference

The problem of transference. One key metaphysical problem running throughout the modern period
concerns the ontology of motion. It seems problematic, insofar as a mode of one body seems to migrate to another. Present this ‘problem of transference’ and then explain how the following figures deal with it: Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz and Kant. Whose view is the most plausible, and why? Since this is a research paper, be sure to include references – footnotes and bibliography – for all of your citations. Just as you want to know where people are getting the information they pass on to you as true, so you need to tell your readers why your sources are credible. Web sites may be included but do not count towards the seven sources required except in the case of articles or books published both in print and online or else in databases of scholarly sources).

US History

I would like you to analyze two revolutionary documents from early American History: Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence and Thomas Paine’s pamphlet “Common Sense.” Which had the greater effect on revolutionary America? Are these two documents still relevant in our country today? Please be sure to support your argument with adequate evidence.

Your assignment will be to take a clear side on the issue and to support your thesis with clear arguments and evidence (cite your sources, you must use APA format throughout). For example, if you were to write a paper on whether a liberal or conservative approach to domestic policy would better suit the US currently, your thesis should look something like this: “An ideology of liberalism will better suit our country at this point in time.” You might go on to support your thesis with arguments such as “The failure of big businesses proves that these businesses cannot be trusted with the economic freedom valued by conservatives.” Then you will back up your argument with evidence (you might talk about governmental deregulation of business in the late 1980s-1990s and explain how this contributed to economic collapse).

Make sure your sources are reputable (stay away from Wikipedia), and be sure to cite your sources carefully. I do check for plagiarism, and whether it is accidental or intended, it will result in a zero. You must use at least four different sources for this paper.

Culture

What is culture? Critically discuss at least two perspectives.
I am studying Culture, Policy and Management MA course. Here are the instructions that the teacher gave :
We place a major emphasis on answering the question. We devise questions carefully. Importantly, we grade them in response to the marking criteria (see handbook) and critically, to what extent the answer the question.

So, if you reword the question, or make up your own you will be immediately undermining your potential to get a good mark. Our hope, and objective, is that you get the best possible marks!

As questions are an opportunity to express your understanding of the topic, the question gives you plenty of scope. However, you need to display your skill at both appreciating the scope, and your analytical skill of focusing on a particular aspect that you can explore in the necessary depth. So, telling the reader/marker how you have interpreted the question and focused it is very helpful. This should be echoed in your conclusion, where you reverse the order. Critically, you answer the question in the conclusion.

Signalling the logic of your answer is always good. Unless we are reading a detective novel, we usually appreciate a map that lets us know what to expect. You might add a few sentences at the end of your introduction that lets the reader know what to expect, if there are 3 parts, tell us! In an short essay of 3000 words or so sub headings might not be appropriate; but, if they help to structure your paper, and you have signalled such a structure; use them. We find newspaper stories (that are usually less that 1000 words) divided by subheadings easier to read. Its all about communication; use those skills.

The middle part – core – or your essay will be the evidence/argument. I find it helpful to think of this in a judicial analogy. We have all seen court room dramas. You have the opening statement by the judge who outlines the case and the jurisdiction of the court. The you have the case for; and the case against. The jury (you) is led by the judge’s summing up (your conclusion). Where they balance the evidence and ‘weigh’ it and hence offer a reasoned, and argued case, for the answer.

On ‘evidence’: this is based upon your reading you need to assemble evidence from ‘experts’ and reference them when you cite their authority. (of course one task is for you to sift and organise your evidence so that it fits into a two or three different positions that seem coherent). Each position should be as rigorous as the others. An implication is that the ‘reference’ list is actually that material which you have cited (not a general bibliography of all that you read). How long should the reference list be? As long as it needs to be to establish your points. Most people seem to average on 2/3 of a page. But, relevance is key, not length.

virtual Teams: Making It Work

Virtual teams are composed of employees who are physically dispersed throughout the nation or around the world. They are linked by various forms of electronic technology. Face-to-face contact is usually minimal or nonexistent. Virtual teams face several challenges: time zone differences, which make quick information exchanges difficult, and cultural miscues, which can cause misunderstandings. When teams don’t meet in person, its less likely they will develop the kind of chemistry common to productive teams that have face-to-face meetings. Many virtual teams are in continuous danger of becoming dysfunctional.

Recent research has identified certain traits and practices common to most virtual teams. Here are a few important rules for making these teams productive.

•Choose a few team members who already know each other. This will speed up the process of building networks among team members. Invest in online resources that help all team members quickly learn about one another.

•Ensure the task is meaningful to team members and the company. Assign tasks that are challenging and interesting.

•The virtual team should include “boundary spanners,” persons who have many connections to useful people outside of the team.

•Develop a team mission statement along with teamwork expectations, project goals, and deadlines.

•Create an online site where team members can collaborate, exchange ideas, and motivate one another. The team should have a shared online workspace that all members can access 24 hours a day.

•Encourage frequent communication and try to reach agreement about preferred communication tools.

•If you are a virtual team leader, find ways to mark team progress toward goals.

Questions1.Which of the five dysfunctions of a team (presented in Figure 12.3) would be the greatest barriers to virtual team productivity? Defend your answer.

2.What can be done to avoid information overload when the virtual team is made up of 25 to 30 members?

Write a 2-3 page paper regarding your findings, using APA format, and submit no later then Sunday, midnight. Your paper must have an introduction, body, and conclusion.

Please support your ideas, arguments, and opinions with independent research, include at least three (3) supporting references or sources (do NOT use your textbook as one of the three required references, Wikipedia, unknown, undated, or anonymous sources, such as websites), include a reference section, and cite all listed references properly in the text of each slide, in accordance with the 6th edition of the APA manual, chapters 6 & 7.
