Professional Role Socialization: Identify two barriers that could interfere with your ability to accomplish the fourth stage

Transitioning to the role of the Professional Nurse requires development of a new framework in your approach to patient care. The process of role transition requires you to reflect on what knowledge and skills you bring as a student and how you transform into the role of the professional nurse. While not all students in the program are licensed practical nurses similarities exist in the evolution of your current position to a new role.
Using APA format, write a six (6) to ten (10) page paper (excludes cover and reference page). A minimum of three (3) current professional references must be provided. Current references include professional publications or valid and current websites dated within five (5) years. Additionally, a textbook that is no more than one (1) edition older than current textbook may be used.
Read the following and then compose your paper:
• Chapter 4: Role Transition (Reprinted with permission from: Lora Claywell (2009) LPN to RN Transitions (2nd ed.) St. Louis, MO: Elsevier.)
The paper consists of two (2) parts and must be submitted by the close of week six. Each part must be a minimum of three (3) pages in length.
Define professional socialization. Discuss how the criteria of a profession are achieved during the process of professional socialization.
• Lora Claywell (2009) describes four stages of professional socialization in nursing. Read the attached chapter and summarize the stages. Identify which stage you are experiencing. Describe your rationale.

Part 1
Identify two barriers that could interfere with your ability to accomplish the fourth stage. For each barrier, identify resources that can assist you to overcome the barrier. Explain.
Part 2
Claywell (2009) discusses 8 areas of differences between LPN and RN roles: assessment skills; patient teaching skills; communication skills; educational preparation; intravenous therapy; legal responsibilities; nursing care planning; and thinking skills. Research 3 of these areas using your textbooks and current nursing literature to provide supporting evidence on how the differences you selected are necessary for implementing the role of the RN in providing safe, effective patient care.

Individual Mental and Physical Health Plan

• Write down my positive thoughts and periodically look back at them throughout the day. This will help with focusing on Positive thoughts opposed to negative ones
• Take at least 2-3 10minute breaks each day to relax and unwind.
• Try my best to get at least 6 hours of sleep each night. This will help my body’s immune system to function better as well as providing me with the necessary energy needed to complete daily tasks.
• When I experience negative thoughts, I will find ways to find a positive aspect to them.
• I will work on realizing that there are some things that can wait till “tomorrow” to be done and that everything does not need to be done “today.” This will contribute to a more restful night of sleep.
Physical
• Sunday: soccer game in the evening, about 1 hr
• Monday: 30-40min hill run at MtSac in the morning and lunges
• Tuesday: 30-40 min hill run at Schabarum in the evening and lunges
• Thursday: 30-40 min hill run at Schabarum in the evening and lunges
• Friday: soccer game in the evening, about 1 hr
• Everyday: 200 sit-ups and 20 push-ups
• Other activities: take stairs at school in stead of elevator; park farther away in parking lots and walk; play outside with Joey for 20min each day; walk at Schabarum on Saturday mornings when possible
Nutrition
• Buy more fruits and vegetables at the grocery store, especially foods that are easy to bring to school to snack on (i.e. apples, carrots sticks, grapes).
• Try and eat at least 4-5 serving of fruits and vegetables each day.
• Drink tea at night instead of coffee.
• Drink at least 2L of water each day. This will keep me hydrated and reduce the temptation to consume other beverages such as coffee or soda.
• Avoid buying pastries when buying coffee at Panera, Starbucks, and Coffee Bean. These are unneeded processed food that should be minimized.
• Bring almonds to snack on throughout the day. This is a healthy snack that will deter me from eating “junk food” as well as lower my chances of getting heart disease.
• Make it a point to eat breakfast everyday. It is important that I start the day with healthy food so that I do not snack the remainder of the day on “junk food” and the breakfast will help in giving me the energy needed to get through the day.

Case Memo Team Project Assignment

This is a team project case memo writing. However, I only need to get my part done. My part is to convert what is highlighted with red into an essay format. It is written in a detailed outline format, but you need to convert it into an essay format. And in order to do that, you need to read the whole attachment to understand the basic idea of what the case is about (the attachment has notes about the case memo) I will copy and paste my part of outline that has to be converted into an essay format:

• Fundamental Attribution Error: A large issue with the third mission was that relations were strained between the scientists and Nasa from the start. After the puke situation, Nasa related that the Astronauts were curt and much ruder in their communications. Nasa attributed many of their shortcomings to their attitudes and mentalities towards the whole mission. They thought they just whined and complained about everything. But the fact remains that the whole mission was very faulty. The astronauts were undertrained from the start, and were then put into a mission where they were continuously rushed and underprepared. The space station itself was confusing and hard to navigate, with one of the flight surgeons even saying that the whole thing was thrown together without the needs and physical limitations of the astronauts being kept in mind. Add in the fact that the astronauts from the previous mission had left the place a mess and it’s no wonder that the participants of the Skylab 3 mission were consistently angry and upset. But instead of seeing all of these large external reasons for the astronaut’s distress, Nasa just attributed it to internal reasons, such as “hostility due to isolation”. They didn’t listen to the complaints of the astronauts and so ensured that they would never be able to communicate with them in the way the mission required. What further proves that the astronaut’s were more influenced by external issues was that the group was able to get along with each other very well. Even better than the participants of Skylab 2.
• Attribution Theory: A large reason why Nasa may have attributed many of the astronaut’s mistakes to internal reasons is that they judged Skylab 3 relative to Skylab 2. They saw that Skylab 2 had performed extremely well, and when Skylab 3 wasn’t they began to force them to speed up their efforts. What they didn’t take into account was that the two missions were very separate situations. Skylab 2 had a well trained crew of disciplined marines that knew each other and the original Skylab crew well allowing them to work cohesively and understand what they were getting into. They knew what their mission was and knew their time constraints. Skylab 3 on the other hand was made up of an entirely different set of crew members. The astronauts had never been to space and were completely unprepared for what the mission entailed.

Is Shylock a sympathetic character in Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice? Why or why not?

The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare raises seriousness of many issues, one of which that has been long debated is anti-Semitism and desecration of the Jewish population in 16th Century England. Back to Elizabethan society, Jewish heritage was usually the object of mockery. This is why even many parts of the play seem offensive in modern times, The Merchant of Venice can still be defined as comedy back then. The character of Shylock is portrayed to exhibit stereotypical characteristics of the villainous Jew. However, many times in the play he diverges from the stereotype and reveals that his anger and villainy stem from mistreatment by people around him. In this paper, I want to make the argument that Shylock is truly a sympathetic figure since he becomes a villain as a result of having been unfairly victimized.
