It is the main reference used by mental health professionals in the United States to identify and describe the symptoms of mental disorders. The DSM-5 (fifth edition) is especially noteworthy for its inclusion of culture-bound syndromes, developed by the National Institute of Mental Health Group on Culture and Diagnosis (Mezzich et al., 1996). The World Health Organization also publishes a manual, the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems(ICD). Since international professionals and those in the United States collaborate, the descriptions of mental illness in both publications are very similar. But are mental disorders in different cultures throughout the world really alike? How would a health professional approach treating someone who presents with a culture-bound syndrome? There is no one-to-one correspondence between a culture-bound syndrome and a DSM diagnosis. However, a psychologist will need to utilize the DSM, ICD, or similar diagnostic tool as part of the professional health community. It could be a starting point for determining the most appropriate treatment as part of a holistic approach in diagnosing a person who is suffering. In this Assignment, you explore different culture-bound syndromes and analyze the application of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria to specific culture-bound syndromes of your choice. To prepare for this Assignment: Review the chapter, “Psychological Disorders” in your course text, Cross-Cultural Psychology: Critical Thinking and Contemporary Applications (5th ed.), with particular attention to the sections on the DSM-5 and culture-bound syndromes. Review Table 9.2, “Specific Culture-Bound Syndromes,” in the course text. Select five to eight culture-bound syndromes from Table 9.2. Review the chapter on Cultural Formation and the Appendix, “Glossary of Cultural Concepts of Distress” found in the Walden Library. Note that possible diagnoses are listed for some syndromes, but you will need to select and defend one diagnosis. Explore the DSM-5 and think about how the culture-bound syndromes you selected may be diagnosed if applying the DSM-5 criteria. To complete this Assignment, submit by Day 7 a completed worksheet (see this Week’s Learning Resources). You will need to select five to eight culture-bound syndromes and complete the following on each row: The name of the culture-bound syndrome you selected. A description of the main symptoms and behaviors of the culture-bound syndrome. The DSM-5 disorder that you believe would be a possible diagnosis of your selected culture-bound syndrome. The key symptoms and behaviors related to your chosen DSM-5 diagnosis that relate to the culture-bound syndrome. A brief rationale of your choice.

Measurement and Instruments for a Quantitative Research Plan regarding prisoner release preparedness

Topic: prisoner release preparedness, with the assumption that the premature release of prisoners who have not had meaningful pre-release counseling or who have not taken part in a prerelease program will increase likelihood that the offender will re-offend. Craft a 7- to 9-page paper that includes the following: The levels of measurement (Nominal, Ordinal, Interval, Ratio) that will be important for your study and why. How you will ensure content validity, empirical validity, and construct validity for your study. If any of these types of validity do not apply to your plan, provide a rationale. How you will ensure reliability for the measurement for your topic? The strengths and limitations of the measurement instrument you have selected in terms of reliability and validity. Which scale is appropriate for you to use for your plan and why? A justification of how you know your scale is reliable and valid. If you can’t find reliability and validity for your scale, describe how you would demonstrate that the scale is reliable and valid. What test is appropriate for your plan, and whether it is norm or criterion reference? What population is used for the scale and test? At least 10 references to the literature to support your choices and rationales.

How the marketing mix evolved from 1980s to 2010s

I wish my thesis could go into detail in the online part of the marketing mix for the 2000s and 2010s. Please write the methodology part first and send me back as soon as possible, I need to give to my supervisor to review that. For the methodology, I’m going to use is mainly through secondary resource and a little primary resource. This part should include “how will you collect the data from firms. Which firms will you contact, which questions will you exactly ask? How will you analyses the answers etc.” I’m going to upload my thesis guide later, I’ve highlighted the most important information.

Can You Use Persuasion or Social Influence to Change Prejudice or Stereotyping?

Readings: Course Text: Persuasion: Psychological Insights and Perspectives Chapter 11, “Changing Prejudice” (pp. 249–280) Assignment: Given all you know about how to change people at this point in the course, can you apply your knowledge to tackle one of the most important and difficult problems in society? The goal of this final Application Assignment is for you to think of creative new ways to use social influence and persuasion processes to change the negative attitudes, beliefs, and behavior that that underlie intergroup conflict. To prepare for this assignment: Review Chapters 4, 5, 9 and 11 in the course text, and think about the various ways that people are motivated to change their behaviors, attitudes, beliefs, etc. Then think about ways of using a foot-in-the-door and door-in-the-face strategy to facilitate positive behavior toward a disliked group. Consider what behavior you would like to encourage and the steps necessary to initiate change. Now consider how you might use cognitive dissonance to change negative attitudes towards a stigmatized group. Then think about using the induced compliance and/or justification of effort procedure strategies to motive change. Lastly, create and describe a persuasive message to promote appreciation of multicultural diversity. Think about the audience, the use of central route to persuasion, and three strong arguments you could use to promote appreciation of diversity. The assignment (1–3 pages): Create and describe a foot-in-the-door or door-in-the-face strategy that can facilitate a positive behavior toward a disliked group. After you identify the group and the target behavior, explain whom you would try to change and what steps would be necessary to initiate commitment or reciprocity processes. Do you think this would lead to long-term change? Why or why not? Use cognitive dissonance to change negative attitudes towards a stigmatized group. First identify and briefly describe the stigmatized group and the negative attitudes that your audience holds toward them. Then, using either an induced compliance or justification of effort procedure, explain how you would get your target audience to commit a discrepant act that would cause dissonance. Then explain how you would provide the means to reduce dissonance by changing their attitudes toward the stigmatized group. Create and describe a persuasive message designed to promote the appreciation of multicultural diversity. Identify the audience and, in order to use the central route to persuasion, explain how you would motivate them and provide the ability to process your message. Identify three strong arguments you would use to persuade them to appreciate multicultural diversity. Finally, assuming some people in the audience may not be motivated or have the ability to process the arguments, describe a positive source cue that you would include to influence these audience members through the peripheral route.
