response paper

write a response paper about the dance.
RESPONSE PAPER #2 – MODULE B
RESPONSE PAPER #2
Is This Dance?
“Dance is a nearly universal behavior with a history probably as old as humanity itself.Since antiquity, paintings, friezes, sculpture, myths, oral expression, and then literature attest to the existence of dance.Dance is embedded in our being.Even when not physically manifest, the concept and vision of emerge in our thinking. The dynamics of dance, culture, and society are inseparable.”
Hanna, J.(1983). The performer-audience connection: Emotion to metaphor in dance and society.Austin, TX: University of Texas Press.
WOW!I thought dance was just something I watched on MTV.The more types of dance you learn about, watch, and explore, the more diverse your personal aesthetic regarding dance will become. For this journal assignment you will be watching several different dance clips to help develop your critical eye utilizing your informed aesthetic. You will ask the question “Is this Dance” as you further articulate a definition of dance.Utilize your tools for critical evaluation (KRITIKOS – PowerPoint) to comment on each dance as you decide which pieces fit into your framework about what dance is.Can you push the boundaries of your framework?
Thus far, we have established a few tools for critical evaluation in the Kritikos PowerPoint:
§Identify the style of dance – does it fit neatly into a type or is it some sort of hybrid
§Is it Dance Art in the 1st Function or 2nd Function?
§Look at the elements of movement inherent in the choreography. What element might stand out more than others?Body, Space, Time, Energy.
§What is your Kinesthetic Response to the piece of work?
§What is your empathetic or emotional response to the work?
§What is your intuitive response? ( Erick Hawkins: View as if through the eyes of a child – unencumbered by your “brain”)
§What is your personal aesthetic- your likes and dislikes- regarding this work?
§Artistic Intent- are you informed about the particular artist creating the work and what compels her/him to create?
§What is the relationship of the music, costume, lighting, sound, props, etc. to the dance?
Look at the Powerpoint (Kritikos-Tools for Critical Evaluation) and then watch the various clips on the DVD and web links.Write a brief response to each piece that you see.
1.First, determine whether each clip you watch is Dance or Not Dance (if it isn’t dance, what is it?… and why is it not dance? How does it fit or defy the definition of dance?
2.Utilize some or all of the tools of critical evaluation listed above to critically discuss the piece that you viewed.
3.Post your paper to the Assignment Tools on WebCT.Remember, use the format: Journal 2_Smith.doc
4. WATCH ALL OF THE VIDEOS BUT LIMIT THE WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT BY COMMENTING ON FOUR OF THE FOLLOWING VIDEOS (FOR TIME’S SAKE!) – CHOOSE A WIDE CONTRAST. DO INCLUDE THE WORK BY MERCE CUNNINGHAM & MUSICIAN JOHN CAGE AS ONE OF YOUR CHOICES.

Sociology of the death and dying: “A good death”

Essay II What Constitutes a “Good Death”? Due APRIL 29

Americans fear death less than they fear the process of dying. Drawing on the textbook material and the four dvds narrated by Bill Moyers, write an essay on what is necessary for a “good” death. While we rarely think of death as “good” the point made in the dvds is that efforts are currently being made to make dying less difficult. In your paper you need to cover the factors that contribute to a “good death”. What is necessary to give patients the best care? How can we insure that decision-making rests with the patient? What part does communication play? What do we often do out of love and concern that actually makes dying more difficult?

You must use the following outline for your paper and indicate which point you are covering by the appropriate heading. When addressing the following points include material from THE LAST DANCE and material from the dvds. Unless I see evidence from BOTH sources the paper will be awarded NO CREDIT.

I. Pain Control

II. No Excessive Treatment

III. Retention of decision-making by the patient

IV. Support for the dying patient and his/her family and friends

V.Communication Among all Parties

VI.Acts done out of love that make dying more difficult

Your paper will be evaluated on how thoroughly you integrate the dvds and the textbook material in your response. As you watch the dvds, take careful notes and make sure you spell the names of the people correctly. YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THE DVDS TO WRITE THIS ESSAY.

Use the outline provided to you in the order that it appears (Pain Control, No excessive Treatment, Retention of Decision-making by the Patient, Support for the Dying Patient and his/her Family and Friends, Communication among all Parties and Acts done out of love that make Dying More Difficult).

*Use the headings in your paper so I know which point in the outline you are addressing.

*Use material from the TEXT and the DVDS. I must see evidence from both sources under each point in the outline.

*While I will not specify an exact length of the essay, I will note that papers from past classes ranged from twelve (12) to fifteen (15) pages.

*When you cite the text (and you need to do so) please follow the point in the following manner (DeSpelder and Strickland, 20). The 20 refers to the page number. Since this is your second essay I expect the citations to be correct.

*When you cite material from the dvds please follow the point you are quoting by noting the person who said it and the title of the particular dvd. Examples–(Bill Bartholome, Living with Dying), (Jim Witcher, A Death of One’s Own), etc. Spell the names correctly.
The text book is called The Last Dance; Encountering Death and Dying
ISBN: 978-0-07-353201-1
There are also a set of DVDs that are called: sociology of death and dying: a different kind of care.
I am going to try to upload the DVDs. Both must be used in the essay
I was asked to upload videos to www.4shared.com for my writer. The exact link is

I was also asked to provide log in details.

WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS:
•APA style- Breyer State University requires the use of APA format for academic writings. I highly recommend purchasing the APA Publication Manual (6th ed.). This manual provides guidance and examples of how to properly cite and reference the work of others. This is also where you will find the specific requirements regarding text type and size, margin settings, etc. These are the basic mechanical requirements of the paper and points are deducted for not complying with these. I am specifically looking for proper APA formatting of in-text citations and references.

•Plagiarism- If you are incorporating information from outside sources you need to cite those sources; otherwise you are presenting the work of others as your own. This is called plagiarism and is a serious academic offense. I do have all the technology to spot plagiarism.

•Grammar/punctuation/flow- You are expected to write at the collegiate level. Proof your paper to check for errors. Better yet, have someone else proof it for you if possible. The highest performing students will take pride in their written presentations and their papers will be free of grammar/punctuation errors and will have a well-structured and logical flow.

Report on community strategy (australia )

This task involves the identification and description of a community strategy in response to an identified
issue. Students are expected to develop a detailed strategic response to the issue utilising concepts and
ideas learned in the unit. The strategy should clearly articulate a community development framework and
specific actions needed to implement the strategy.
Detailed description of the assignment:
This assignment asks you to go beyond the identification and description of a community issue and
requires you to think about a strategic approach to the issue. You may choose to further develop the issue
identified in assignment one or choose another community issue. However it is important to realise that
this task goes well beyond description of the issue and requires the development of a coherent strategy. In
addition to identifying and describing the issue briefly you are required to:
• Identify a clear framework for approaching the issue
• Give a rationale for why this framework is appropriate
• Describe the specific tasks and strategies you would use and the community development skills
employed to approach the issue, including how/who you would work with the community and the various
stakeholders in the issue
• Present ideas about what the expected outcomes of the strategy would be and how you might evaluate
the extent to which they had been achieved.
This assignment is all about thinking through the process from identifying an issue to planning and
implementing a strategy that would resolve the issue in a way that can be shown to have made a
difference. It requires you to not only put forward a strategy, but to rationalise why you would do what
you propose to do.
Number of sources/references MAKE IT AS MUCH AS U CAN
AND THE ISSUE SHD BE IN Australia ..
