A Midsummer Night’s Dream’s

Write a polished five page essay in which you develop an analysis that responds to one of the following prompts.

Your text poses a series of suggestions for writing on page 1459.

Write an essay on suggestions 1, 2, 5 or 6.

In A Midsummer Night’s Dream’s best known speech, Theseus asserts that “The lunatic, the lover, and the poet/ Are of imagination all compact” (5.1.7-8). Citing evidence from the play, write an essay analyzing Shakespeare’s characterization of love- not only in the play’s action but also in the words of the love obsessed characters. Is Shakespearean love merely a kind of madness, or does it contain hints of a guiding wisdom beyond the awareness of the lovers themselves?

Early in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Helena remarks, “Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind” (1.1.234). The play is filled with references to eyes and vision; indeed, the plot hinges on the differences between what characters see and what they think they see. Using specific examples, write an essay exploring the significance of eyes, sight, seeing in the play. What does the play suggest about the power and the limitations of human vision?

5. In a Midsummer Night’s Dream, characters perform a play. What are the functions and effects of this device? What might the plays within plays suggest about the value of drama- including the value of plays like Shakespeare’s own? What different attitudes toward drama are displayed by various characters in A Midsummer Night’s Dream? Write an essay exploring the function and significance of these plays within plays. What attitude toward drama does Shakespeare encourage us to adopt?

6. Write an essay exploring the characterization of the socially lowly characters in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and their thematic significance. What might be noteworthy about when such characters appear? Might some or all of these characters dispay a wisdom lacking in their social betters? If so, what is it?

Remember when you are forming an analysis and explication to be the central thrust of your paper, ask yourself the question, and the answer will be your working thesis. Working is the operative word because you must consider other possible answers to your question – opposing viewpoints. Including these opposing viewpoints and then giving evidence and proof is what will make a strong paper. It will also make your final thesis one which is thoughtful and sound. Also, as you research, don’t just look in your outside sources for confirmation of your viewpoint, but consider all viewpoints. You may change your thesis as you continue your research, but this will ultimately strengthen your paper.

Articulate your thesis near the start of your paper, at the end of your introduction, then in the body of your paper work to convince your reader of how one arrives at your viewpoint through analysis of the text and support from outside sources. Remember that if a thesis is not arguable, then it is a statement of fact, and not a thesis at all.

This paper should follow all relevant MLA guidelines for a research paper. This means double-spaced text, one inch margins, name and page number on each page, and proper citation of all quotes and secondary sources. Use standard 12 pt font, such as times new roman or arial. Please remember that you must use at least two secondary, academic sources (one of these is NOT the primary text).

Remember that an excellent essay develops your original ideas and analysis clearly and thoroughly. To this end, it is helpful, when writing, to create an outline. In particular, if focusing on a symbol, begin by simply re-reading the poems and write down what you identify as symbols. Consider what a symbol is, and consider how this symbol may be used differently at different times in the book. How does this change its conveyed meaning? In terms of what we have previously labeled “counter-argument,” consider what may be other possible meanings to the symbol.

human resources (HR) legal consultant

Elora Jean & Co. is experiencing tremendous growth both in its production division as well as its two nonunion satellite offices. As the human resources (HR) legal consultant, you are concerned with the manner in which union and nonunion employees are terminated. You want to ensure that the company understands the rights that it has to terminate an employment relationship. You also want to be sure Elora Jean & Co. is aware of the protection laws surrounding employment termination.

An additional challenge is associated with the union environment. In particular, the union contract requires employees to be terminated only for “just-cause” reasons.

Briefly discuss what is meant by just cause.
Briefly expand on the definition of employment-at-will, and discuss the exceptions to this doctrine.
With these issues in mind, what recommendations would you offer to Elora Jean & Co. to help position them for terminations that will not present legal risk yet enable the company to terminate employees who are not contributing to the success of the organization?
What process will the company need to follow, and how can they be prepared to support the termination decision? Please use three references!!!

Political Advocacy

Political Advocacy

Public policies—policies that influence broad groups of people over broad areas of the country—c an be initiated at the executive branch of government, designed through legislative action, and crafted through the judicial branch. It is important to keep in mind that what goes on at the national or state level ultimately influences what occurs at the institutional level, directly influencing what health care administrators and their organizations can do.

Bring to mind a particular health care issue about which you would like to influence a change of policy. You might start by looking into the status of a bill of which you are already aware. You can also search a topic of personal or professional interest, such as women’s health, childhood diabetes, or hospice care, and follow leads and links to legislative information. You may scan state and federal government sites to find links to health legislation. Sites are also available that specialize in tracking bills in progress. The link in the Week 7 Discussion item “Legislation Resources on the Web” will take you to some Web addresses that can start you off.

Identify two or three Web sites that provide credible information on this issue. Research what has been proposed or enacted at local, state, and federal levels in the past to address this issue. Also research the positions of special interest groups.

Then, write a persuasive e-mail or letter to a particular individual with whom you would like to communicate about this issue—such as an elected official or a health care leader. Explain why you believe this issue is important and how it could be addressed through policy. Describe the potential impact of your proposed changes on health care consumers and/or health services organizations. Be sure to support your position with information from Learning Resources and your own research.

Post a cohesive response that addresses the following:

•Provide a copy of the letter or e-mail you have written, as indicated above.

•Suggest two or three credible Web resources that your colleagues can access for information on this issue.

Family Sociology

Paper instructions:
Family Sociology

Choose one of the following:

1.    Why is the way we define family such a controversial issue in Britain today?

2.    Examine the ways in which roles and relationships in families are changing. What are the implications of these changes both for families and society?

Learning outcomes to be addressed: 1-6

Option 1
What is your interpretation of the essay title/question? This essay requires you to discuss the complexity and diversity of family – how understanding has moved from ‘the family’ to ‘families’.  You need to address this essay title/question by providing critical discussion of different sociological perspectives of family. These sociological perspectives provide different explanations for different family forms/types. How is ‘family’ perceived within the functionalist perspective? What contribution did feminists make to understanding of family? How has the individualization thesis explained ‘family’? What are some of the more recent understandings of family? Your essay will be enhanced by demonstrating how the functionalist perspective of ‘the family’ still influences policy  and media  representations of family. Your essay should be supported with statistics to highlight shifts in family form. Your essay will also be enhanced by the inclusion of a cultural perspective and children’s views in relation to family form (embedded, briefly, within changing views of children within sociological theory. Your conclusion, based on evidence presented in the essay, should provide a response to the essay title/question.

Option 2
What is your interpretation of the essay title/question? To address this essay title/question you will need to discuss the various sociological perspectives of family as outlined for option 1. However, your discussion needs to have a more explicit focus on roles (e.g. husband/wife) and relationships (e.g. parent-child). You will need to consider the implications of the changes in these roles and relationships for families and society e.g. have relationships, such as husband-wife and parent-child, become more egalitarian and democratic? Developing a critical perspective in relation to this will enable you to consider (briefly) the issue of domestic violence and child abuse. How has family policy recognized/supported changing roles and relationships within families? Do the media  reflect these changing roles and relationships? Your essay will be enhanced by the inclusion of a cultural perspective and children’s views in relation to family roles and relationships (embedded, briefly, within changing views of children within sociological theory. Your conclusion, based on evidence presented in the essay, should provide a response to the essay title/question.

Please use different sources.
