China & Facebook

Background China blocked facebook in 2008. Asia has more 143 million Facebook users and only 0.5 percent of them are from China. Nonetheless, Facebook’s growth rate in China is growing strongly at 84 percent and is also the highest growth rate in Asia, according to SocialBakers’s statistics. Mark Zuckerberg once said, “How can you connect the whole world if you leave out 1.6 billion people?” If this impressive growth rate were to continue, it wouldn’t take too long before he can connect China with the world. But it remains to be seen if this figure will continue its strong growth. The Chinese government wouldn’t be too happy if it learned that a significant proportion of users are bypassing its firewall system. The Paper 1500 words Write a short history on China’s struggle in accepting Facebook from the initial growth of Facebook across Asia, to China’s blocking. Interestingly Linkedin is now in beta testing in China – why Linkedin and not Facebook? The paper can be structured as follows 500 words; Facebook’s growth through Asia up to the blocking 500 words; How did the blocking occur? Was it peaceful and easy? Did a particular incident cause the Chinese government to block Facebook? Why the government was concerned ad how did it explain it to the people? 500 words; what do you think will happen with Facebook in China? Do you see the government allowing facebook but with censorship, or even unrestricted? Do you think Facebook will make concessions? Assessment; 33.3% research, 33.3% comprehension and legibility, Your answer to ‘what do you think will happen with Facebook in China? is worth 33.3% of the assessment, so please use data and fact to support your argument

Promoting Individual Health Assessment scenario Molly is 35 years old and she is married to James. They have two children Eric who is 8 years old and Sebastian who is 3 years old. James works as a long distance lorry driver and spends long periods abroad. Molly was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes two years ago, and manages her condition well. Molly has just discovered she is 8 weeks pregnant. She hopes it will be a girl this time but is worried she will suffer from post natal depression as she felt very low following Sebastian’s birth. She has a part time job at a local supermarket fitting her shifts around school and nursery. Molly likes to go to the gym but finds it difficult to find time to get there. James (Molly’s husband) is 37 year old and works as a lorry driver. He has to travel long distance and currently spends more time abroad than at home. James is pleased that Molly is expecting another baby. Recently he has started looking for work closer to home so he can offer more support to Molly. Unfortunately he has been unable to find a suitable job close to home but continues to look for one. Molly has noticed that James gets worried. She has also noticed that he is low in mood, irritable and loses his temper easily. He has started to smoke again, a habit he stopped 4 years earlier. His alcohol intake has also increased. Molly’s parents have been very supportive but her father has just been diagnosed with dementia. Molly’s father (David) was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s about 18 months ago. Most of the time he manages well but he relies on his wife to remind him to take his medication. Recently he got lost whilst out shopping without his wife, a friend saw him and helped him to get home. He is now reluctant to go out alone in case he gets lost. Molly and James have two children Eric who is 8 years old and Sebastian who is 3 years old. Towards the end of Eric’s primary school years, he was found to have a learning difficulty and to be on the lower end of the autistic spectrum. He attends a mainstream school with additional support in the school. He uses limited speech to communicate therefore gets frustrated when people fail to understand him and at times displays behaviour that is difficult to manage. There were episodes when Eric was picked on by other children in the school. Eric has limited social contacts therefore relies on his immediate family for social support. Eric is severely overweight as he tends to have a fixation with food. Sebastian attends the nursery attached to Eric’s school. His nursery teacher has noticed that he is not interacting well with his peers due to his mild hearing loss (caused by Otitis Media). He has no other long term problems but has recently had several episodes of earache and tonsillitis. He has had an appointment with an ENT specialist. The ENT specialist said that Sebastian does not require surgery at the moment but advised Molly to discuss with her Health Visitor how she can help Sebastian to reach his full potential developmentally. PLEASE WRITE ON JAMES MOLLY’S DAD
