This week you will be writing a short five-paragraph (500 word) midterm essay exam in response to a course reading “Is Anything Private Anymore” by Sean Flynn on p. 545 in the course textbook. Please read and review the selection carefully before beginning the midterm exam. Do not begin the midterm exam until you are ready as it is a timed exam (120 minutes). In addition, you will not see the specific writing prompt for the assignment until you begin the exam. Once you have begun, you may not exit the test and re-enter. It is intended to be a single sitting reading and writing test as if you were sitting inside a classroom for two hours. The exam is an open book exam which means you can and should review and refer to the short essay, “Is Anything Private Anymore?” while you are writing the response essay. The exam is timed for two hours and once you begin the essay exam, the timing of the essay exam will begin. Do not start the exam until you have a two hour window of time set aside for this assignment. You may finish earlier than two hours and you may go over the time limit without the exam closing, but the essay grade will be lower by going over the allotted time. There is also only one attempt to submit this assignment, so be very deliberate in your preparation for this 100 point midterm essay exam.

4. Look for the thematic point of the essay often defined as its message, meaning, or moral.
5. Respond to this thematic point, (message, meaning, or moral) in your essay by writing a five-paragraph short essay. Original Title, Introduction (with thesis statement), Three Body Paragraphs (with specific supporting details from the essay), and Conclusion.
6. Provide supporting details in the body paragraphs by quoting or paraphrasing some of the words of the essay and using parenthetical citation.
7. Create a Work Cited page at the end by listing the essay by the author’s name (last and then first) the title of the essay, the date of publication, and then the publishing information of the textbook.
8. This essay must be entirely written within the textbox area .
9. The same rules of formal academic writing apply to this essay.
