Brief summary and conclusions based on a content analysis of an issue of a local, daily newspaper (e.g., The New York Times, The Star Ledger).
Using the attached sample coding sheet, print several, blank copies and follow the directions as indicated here. Second, read all the news articles in the first section of the chosen day’s newspaper (don’t choose a Sunday edition) and complete a coding sheet for each article. Third, then using a blank coding sheet, tally up the articles into their categories and subcategories, deriving a total for how many front page/interior page articles there were that day; how many articles were about Politics, Business, etc.; how many articles were Positive, Neutral, Negative. Then write a brief summary and conclusion based on the content analysis of the newspaper.( I will upload a copy of the coding sheet.
