1. A. Selection Package Project – Individual 20%
TORONTO, CANADA BASED***
Purpose: The focus of this project is to determine the processes related to recruiting and selecting an effective workforce.
Requirements:
o • Conduct a virtual search for 3 retailing job ads/postings (i.e. look on the Internet for job ads/postings)
o • Compare each of the ads to the job postings in the Retail Council of Canada’s HR Toolkit http://www.retailcouncil.org/sites/default/files/retailerguides/hr-toolkit.pdf
•http://hrcouncil.ca/hr-toolkit/right-people-selection.cfm#_secA2
Compare how each ad:
Communicates the requirements for each job including qualifications, responsibilities, working conditions
Communicate each organization’s service objectives, service standards, service values.
Appeals to appropriate candidates including clarity, positioning/location/ease of access, motivation/attractiveness
Create a job description for one (1) of the postings. Include the web-site/location of the posting you’ve selected.
Develop 3-4 interview questions for 2 of the key requirements of the job description you’ve developed. Ensure that the questions are legally appropriate – check the following guide from the Canadian Human Rights Commission:
