Clarification to the Week 10 individual assignment:
For Week 10, your individual paper will be focusing on your own company/organization and you will draft an improved business strategy/plan for them. First provide a very brief introduction about your company/organization. Areas to cover in your paper are: current business strategy/plan – what is it, why is it like that, who is responsible for what, what doesn’t work well currently, who are your competitors, SWOT analysis and then finally what would you recommend to make your company/organization better.
Some options for this paper:
A. If you work in a small company this exercise should be straightforward.
B. Those of you that work in a division of a large corporation could find this more difficult so you may choose from the following options:
1. You can focus on the parent corporation as a whole if you desire (this would be good if you desire to work at that level one day).
2. Or, you can focus just on the division that you currently work for.
C. If you work in a governmental entity, look at it as a whole. For example, if you are in the military, look at your branch and how it relates to the DoD and government as a whole.
Items to remember for your paper:
1. You need to provide information on where your company is currently on the areas to cover (see above), however it is the analysis of the information that is the most important.
2. Think about the various strategic frameworks (Porter’s Five Forces, etc.) and apply them if possible.
3. Look at this paper in terms of critiquing what your company/organization is currently doing via their business strategy/plan and then the opportunity to recommend improvements to the business strategy/plan to your CEO.
3. This paper should be approx. 10 double spaced pages. This does not include the Executive Summary, appendices or references.
