Procedure:
1. Collect information on chosen topic from a variety of resources (text, other
books, magazines, newspapers, reputable websites). Include a APA bibliography.
2. Write and type an essay of 1000 to 2000 words (Margins: 1.5 inches left and 1
inch right, font size: 12, double spaced)
3. Content guidelines:
a) Introduce the theory or the milestone of development (birth-30 months)
to be covered by the essay.
b) Discuss the relevancy of the theory (historical and today) and if the
theory has been proven or disproved or questioned by other theorists. or b)
Discuss why the developmental milestone is important in the continuing development of
the child (how does it affect other areas of development).
c) How will this information be useful in your future work as an Early
Childhood Educator? Provide examples.
Grading will be based on: presentation (spelling, grammar, clarity of thought); 10 marks,
research and use of information in the essay; 15 marks,
and the requirements of 1, 2 and 3 have been met; 25
marks.
Graded out of 50 marks worth 30% of final grade.
