Individual research essay
Students are to research and write an academic essay of 2000-2500 words in length (excluding references). Please refer your NBS Student Manual: Starting Your Assignment (pp.9-15), Researching (pp.16-23), Critical Thinking (pp.25-26), Referencing (pp.27-41), Academic Writing (pp.42-49) and Academic Essays (pp.61-64).
In this assignment, be careful to ensure that any Internet website data, popular or management magazines, or dictionary entries you use are relevant. Usually, you should not be using these sources. If a source does not have a reference, eliminate it immediately. If you are unsure about whether or not a source is academic and scholarly, please consult your Student Manual prior to its inclusion or ask in class.
Students must answer one (1) of the following questions. Submission is through Turnitin:
‘For a variety of reasons, establishing competencies and more effective recruitment and selection processes for potential expatriates has become increasingly important. Discuss.’
Or
‘The concept of expatriate failure is more complex than the early and unscheduled return of an expatriate from an overseas assignment. Discuss.’
Or
‘Multinational organisations must retain and develop a workforce with a global mindset. Discuss.’
You are encouraged to minimise the use of textbooks, particularly your prescribed textbook. A minimum of eight (8) journal reference sources will help you write a more complete paper, if all the sources are relevant. Note: you are discouraged from including excessive numbers of citations that do not add critical significance to your argument, as you will not be rewarded for quantity over quality. Refer Turnitin for a more detailed explanation of the assessment criteria found in the Course Outline and on Blackboard.
