Child workers in India: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-16639391

This assignment has two parts. In the first part, you will critically analyze the news event or story using Maxwell and Young’s frameworks. What individuals or social group is the focus of the story? What faces of oppression are evident in the story? Be sure to include outlines of your understanding of any concepts that you incorporate in your analysis (e.g., social group, any of the five faces of oppression, and so on). Related to each of these events is an underlying problem or issue for which a Community Based Adult Education (CBAE) program could be created.

For the second part of the assignment, you will create an appropriate CBAE program to address this underlying problem. Note that different people will identify different underlying problems. This is normal in constructivist theory. Review chapters four, five, and six of the course text book as you set out to create an appropriate CBAE program.

Note that this is not intended to be a research assignment — stick to the issue as it is presented in the news article that you choose rather than conduct additional research into the issue.

Your paper should be typed double-spaced, 12-point font Times New Roman, and six pages long (NOT including references).

Use titled sections to organise what you want to say. Please make sure that you cite and reference all materials used in your essay appropriately using the APA format (6th ed.). Information about this format is available at the resources link of the course at ‘How to Cite’. Note that the course text book uses the APA format for in-text and bibliography/reference page referencing. So, use it as a model.

Dedicate approximately four pages of the assignment to part one and approximately two pages to part two.

Before submitting your essay, please proofread it for grammar, spelling and punctuation, and number your pages. Prepare a front page (NOT included in the six page limit) where you give the title of your paper, your name and student number. Submit this assignment using the Assignment two drop box.

If possible please draw your information on CBAE from Brown and Hannis’ book, Community Development in Canada, 2nd ed., as well as some additional articles as the course unfolds.
