MENTORING PROJECT, CRITICAL ANALYSIS

The mentoring project will enable the mentors to develop their leadership and advocacy skills and be assessed on the ability to critically reflect on their journey as mentors. Each mentor will be assigned with one or two mentees to support.

Mentors are expected to make contact with the mentees to discuss the types of mentor support that they can provide in a collegial manner drawing on their experience and knowledge. Together with the mentees, the mentors are to identify a need and guide them effectively through it. For example:

Providing a positive student experience

Engagement with the VEYLDF or NQF

Support with research skills and the library database e.g. finding peer reviewed journal articles

Discussing assignments for year 1 and year 2 accelerated units

Guidance with Universities Services e.g. Welfare, Student Service Centre
