Edward de Bono suggests using six thinking hats when considering any problem or question. Give a description of this approach and then after selecting and researching a problem confronting the modern world, apply it.

The problem I have chosen to apply this strategy to is that the world is running out of oil.

The introduction should state that I am using de Bono’s method of six thinking hats on this case.

6 Thinking Hats:

1. White Hat – stating the facts of oil loss.

2. Red Hat – state emotions towards the situation. I am worried and scared of the fact that the world is running out of oil. Include the public’s reaction as well to this news if you have found any facts.

3. Black Hat – all the negative points and downside of oil loss.

4. Yellow Hat – benefits of oil deprivation.

5. Green Hat – the creative hat which includes new ideas. Here you must research what alternatives scientists have found for oil.

6. Blue Hat – The Blue Hat is used to manage the thinking process. It’s the control mechanism that ensures the Six Thinking Hats.
