Please rewrite this personal statement letter of my life. I had many ups and downs in my life. One of my sisters died when she was 23 years old having a baby. My father died when I was in high school. He was shot and killed in his place of business. Three months later, my mother died of Cancer. When they died I had to live with my sister in the projects. At 17, I was married and I had 5 children. Over my life I struggled to make ends meet. I had low paying jobs like factory jobs most of my life. I always wanted to go to school but I put it off until my children were grown. I was a foster mother for over 20 years and I took care of children that were mentally ill. Many of these children did not have any one else. I had compassion and love for them. I took them into my home and took care of them. I have been attacked by knives, threaten, hit, spit on and lied on from these mentally ill children but I continued to hang in there and work with these children because I would not give up on them. I was car-jacked in Newark New Jersey and this experience was a bad experience. I was cleaning out my car in a gas station on Elizabeth Ave when two man came behind me and put a gun to my back and said they was going to shoot me. I thought I was going to die that day. They got in my car and took my car. Thank God they didn’t shoot me. This experience was traumatic and it took me a long time to get over this experience. For the past year I have been faced with an illness called Dysphagia. This is an illness that a person can’t swallow or they have problems with swallowing. For the past year, I was not able to swallow solid foods. I have went to doctor after doctor but they can’t find a cause. Overall, I have this illness, but I never will let it stop me from achieving my goals. I continue to go to school. I have improved my GPA from a C to a B. All my life, my dream is to become a Psychiatrist. By getting my Master’s Degree in Psychology would bring me one step closer of becoming a Psychiatrist. My future plans are to further my education in Psychology and to become a Psychiatrist. I plan on opening up a doctor’s office in my area. I will continue to help children that have mental illness. Over my life I have went through many obstacles but I stayed strong and had courage to endure. This proves that I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to achieve. I am determent and I have strong willpower. One day I will be the Psychiatrist that I always wanted to become.
