In the e-mail, please give me a short (250-300 words) progress report on how you are progressing with your recommendation report assignment. The e-mail must have the following parts:
• A specific subject line (the words “progress” and “report” should be part of the subject line)
• An introduction about your report (e.g. the topic, the program, the partners etc.) using direct strategy
• Information in different sections about a) what you have already done on your report, b) what you are working on now, and c) what you still need to do before handing in the report
• A conclusion stating whether you feel that you are on track to hand the assignment in on time or whether you feel you need an extension
Consult the solution to the document for revision from Chapter 9 which you worked on in class and which is filed under Module 11 on Blackboard. You may use the same headings for the three different body sections of your e-mail if you so choose. Take note, however, that the actual assignment is an e-mail, NOT a memo.
Make sure that you proofread the e-mail carefully to check for grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. before sending it.

Here is an outline of the progress on my search for a restaurant to film the TV series “Great Canadian Cooking.” The filming will begin in May. The location for the TV series is a restaurant in Toronto or outlying areas.
Past Progress
As you requested, I have been searching for restaurants that have a professional kitchen, are an adequate size, and are available for rental during our filming period for less than $1000 per day. This required a week’s worth of telephoning around the city to narrow down the possibilities. I have chosen five possible restaurants as follows:
• Lisa’s: This restaurant is well located in the centre of downtown.
• Trattoria Umberto: This trendy Italian restaurant is located in Little Italy and has a large kitchen with a brick oven.
• Avignon: This French restaurant is in Bloor West Village in Toronto’s west end. The space outside the restaurant is wide enough for our filming crew to set up equipment.
• The MacKenzie House: This restaurant in Brampton is a century-old farmhouse converted into a restaurant. The kitchen is updated and spacious.
• The Old Greek: This restaurant is in the east end of Toronto. It has state-of-the art kitchen supplies but is cramped in size.
Present Status
At present I am meeting with two owners to discuss time availability and price. Lisa’s owner is asking too much, $1500 per day, and we need to bring our own kitchen supplies. The MacKenzie House is undergoing renovations at present, and the construction may not be completed by May.
Future Plans
When I meet with the other three restaurants, I will add several other criteria to my search:
• Decor: Do the restaurants have attractive dining rooms in case we need to use these rooms for extra shots.
• Number of Islands: How many islands do the kitchens have for us to move around the cooking and preparation areas while filming.
• Cleanliness: What is the condition of the kitchen. For example, Avignon’s kitchen is cluttered and disorganized with dishes, pots and pans, and utensils strewn all over the place.
