My first training in public speaking was during the Instructor’s Basic Course (IBC) in Memphis, Tennessee. IBC was a training course developed to teach military service members assigned to instructor duty the basics of classroom instruction. My orders would send me to Naval Air Station Lemoore. Here I would be a technical instructor for the electrical and instrument systems of the fighter attack Hornet aircraft (F/A 18) constructed by McDonnell Douglas.
