Please have a look at the sources above to have an idea of what this paper is going to be about. This is a group project about Nestlé, a multi-billion dollar multinational and its unethical business decision on using expired permits to ruthlessly pump freshwater out of California. During a historic drought, Nestlé is trying to drain California dry.
So,this paper is going to be the first part of the whole group’s paper, which focuses on introducing the company Nestle, the stakeholders, how are they affected due to Nestle’s operation (expired permit, water source, etc.),and irrationalities.
I. Stakeholders
Who are the stakeholders? [Customers, employees, stockholders, the community, suppliers, government, the financial system, etc.] Who are the most important stakeholders, and why?
II. The Company
Describe the company: is it public or private? (Are its shares traded on a public exchange; if so, it’s a public company). What is its market capitalization and who are its main competitors? What challenges and opportunities did it face at the time of the decision that you focus on (or that it now faces). How important is the firm’s general reputation for doing “good business,” or do you think it can afford not to be mindful of its reputation?
III. Irrationalities, if any?
In terms of the decision-maker you have chosen, can you see any critical thinking errors by others or by the decision-maker? Here, use Bazerman and Tenbrunsel’s Blind Spots, and/or Robert Prentice on Enron, or “Ethics Unwrapped” (a website sponsored by the University of Texas).
State if you seen any mental biases, heuristics, or other irrationalities that (A) make the decision maker’s task more difficult, and (B) have been evident in the decision-maker’s own prior decisions, or have been evident in prior decisions of others.
