Research Article Summary and Evaluation
The Task:
Choose one scholarly journal article from your annotated bibliography. Read it thoroughly. Write an abstract based on a thorough evaluation of the article and back up what you are saying with support from the text of the article itself, however, do not copy word for word from the article-summarize and paraphrase what the author(s) have presented in the article.
Format:
Your abstract should follow the following format: use the headings below, single- spaced paragraphs, full-indent, double-space between paragraphs.

Full citation of the article using APA or MLA citations Your name
Describe what the author(s) wanted to do in the article.
Identify the methods the author(s) used to conduct their research. (i.e.-ethnographic, laboratory, textual analysis etc.)
What were the major premises of the article? Why was the study conducted? What are the conclusions? What results were reached? Do not take large quotes from the article—paraphrase and explain.
What is your reaction to the article? Was it good? Did it follow solid research rules? Was it clear? Be sure to support your assertions—“I didn’t like it” isn’t enough!!
You must include a photocopy of the first page of your article. Please attach it to your abstract.
