TV pilot coverage

When writing your comments, remember to think beyond the pilot itself and envision the series potential:

1) Does the writer have enough talent and experience to handle the show creatively?
2) Longevity – is the concept strong enough to have the potential to be a series? Could it run 10 episodes? 100 episodes?
3) Marketplace – is there an audience for this material?
4) How strong is the concept? Is it a serialized show or a procedural?
5) Package – are there any interesting or power attachments?

INTRODUCTION:

As a Story Analyst, your job is to read submitted material, synopsize the story, and objectively evaluate the property as a potential motion picture. The goal is clean, readable coverage that gets to the point. Synopses should be good, short fiction — a retelling of the story in present tense. Comments should make an argument for or against the material, and include both its strengths and its weaknesses. In addition, be sure to note the writing capabilities and potential demonstrated in a particular script even if the screenplay is weak.
