Workplace violence has become a growing concern for security managers over the past two decades. There have always been some problems associated with violence in the workplace, but recent decades have focused additional attention on this serious problem. Whether the violence is a result of a personnel problem such as disciplinary action,salary dispute, or termination, even a domestic dispute, employee’s do bring their problems to work. Far to often the pressure results in some form of violence against fellow employee’s, employers or the work facility.
Many organizations have developed polices and procedures to deal with acts of violence in the workplace. Most are in the form of Violence Intervention and Contingency Teams (VIACT) or Violence Response Teams (VRT).
Please detail your strategy using the VIACT or VRT model to include identifying what members of your organization will make up this model. Your model must include levels of discipline, is it progressive or dealt with case by case?. What impact does years of service or position with the organization have when determining discipline ?.
