Legal aspects of procurement – Project Procurement Management

Legal aspects of procurement (you’ll need to focus on one or several related issues)
Using the UMUC Library, Google, and other sources research current or historic issues on the legal aspect of project procurement management. Then, write a 8 page (APA Style less table of contents, References list, etc).
NOTES:
• You’ll need to refer to the sample paper template and follow the basics of the APA stylebook especially formats for citations and your reference list
• All sources must be referenced in your paper.
• Review the Grading Rubric for the number of sources – in-class and outside – that are required for grading purposes.
PAPER POINTERS:
• Rule No. 1: Make sure you read the requirements of the assignment, and write your paper to fulfill the assignment.
• APA Style: Please try to follow the basics, but I don’t expect a full-blown Table of Contents for a short paper. You should also refer to the sample paper posted under “Course Content.”
• Grading Rubric: Please read the Grading Rubric before you start writing in earnest. Keep in mind that I do differentiate between “in class” references (our textbooks including the PMBOK) and outside references. The online UMUC Library is pretty handy for such research.
• Page Length: You can go a little longer, but writing 20 pages (I’ve had them) WON’T enhance your grade. Please save your energy.
• APA Citations: If you’re unclear on in-text citation forms, see pp. 174-177 of the APA Stylebook especially the table on page 177. I’ve also posted a link to APA style shortcuts under “Course Content.”
• Bullet points aren’t writing. Use them as part of your analysis, but not as entire paragraphs (or, in some cases, for half a paper).
Figures aren’t writing either – use them to support your ideas. Also you need to cite the source of figures that aren’t original.
• Pay attention to your paper’s structure using the APA Stylebook as a guide: introduction, discussion, conclusion, etc.
• Commas, please! If you’re not clear, check the APA Stylebook for guidance.
GRADING RUBERIC
• Research includes at least three relevant reference sources from the UMUC Library or other outside sources. Three relevant non-library sources (e.g., course textbooks) are also referenced.
• Student links the individual assignment to content described in the course text(s) and clearly links the individual assignment to discussion in course Discussions.
• The individual assignment provides evidence that the student read and considered a substantial number of literature sources in developing the individual assignment.
• Ideas expressed in a clear and coherent manner using good grammar, proper style, and appropriate citations.
• Student makes use of appropriate and relevant charts, tables, or diagrams to reinforce the student’s research or ideas, but does not dominate the individual assignment with such charts, tables, or diagrams.
• The length of the individual assignment does not deviate from the required page length or word count range of the individual assignment. APA-style requirements for formatting the structure of the individual assignment, such as a cover page, table of contents, and references are not calculated as a part of the length of the individual assignment (either page length or word count).
• The individual assignment is formatted according to APA-style—including cover, citations, references, and the like with just a few minor deviations.
