The positive effects of well-being

“The positive effects of well-being”. Being in good health and how it affects the person mentally, physically and spiritually.

This is a Positive Psychology in Action Project
This project will require you to come up with a plan to put positive psychology into action. You should select one or more positive psychology constructs (e.g., altruism, gratitude, forgiveness, mindfulness) or theories (e.g., the broaden and build theory of positive emotions) and develop a plan to bring these constructs to life preferably having the effect of positively affecting the lives of others.
Written Report
All papers should include:

1: A title page with the name of the project and other information (your name, course)
2: A table of contents
3: A section including the definition and a description of the positive psychology construct(s) and/or theories that you have attempted to put into action in your project

4: A section describing the design, goals, and implementation of the project (i.e., what is the goal, what is the plan to achieve the goal, who will be affected by the project, what are the desired outcomes) and a rationale for why you think this plan will have the desired outcomes

5: An analysis section in which you critique your own work – if there were problems or if the goals were not achieved, why do you think this was the case, and what could you do to improve this project if you were to try it again in the future? If the goals were achieved, why do you think this was the case, and is there anything you would do differently to make the project even better if you were to try it again in the future?

6:In a separate section, or combined with the above section, choose three of the assigned articles or videos from the course (any from Weeks one through eight) that are most relevant to your positive psychology in action project and provide the following:
 One picture (graphic format is not important) that best captures the relevance of the concepts presented in the article/video
 Two Web sites with two to three sentences that describe the Web site for each article/video
 One article summary (note the actual article must be at least two pages in length) from a peer-reviewed journal for each article/video you choose. You must include a means of gaining access to a copy of the article (e.g., the appropriate doi or an active hyperlink) in the references section.
 Three to five paragraphs describing why you chose the pictures, Web sites, and articles.
 A strong conclusion of at least five pages (no more than eight), double-spaced, reflecting on how you interpret and understand the material, integrating your project with the material. Include any thoughts on how you perceive you can use the information learned from the course and from your project. Also, how might the information be used on a broader level (e.g., in applied psychology, schools, etc.)?
 A list of references.

21st Century Instructional Plan: Instructional Plan Design & Description

Part 1: Instructional Plan Design & Description
Synthesize what you have learned thus far by developing an instructional plan utilizing one of the templates provided below. You must design a lesson that would occur during a single class period that lasts anywhere between approximately 30 and 90 minutes in length that focuses on content pertaining to either English/Language arts or Math. Do not construct a unit of instruction.
•Hunter Template
•Understanding by Design (UbD) template
•Common Core Template

Your instructional plan must include the following components regardless of the format you choose:
•Grade level content standard (using either math or ELA standards).
•Appropriate ISTE standards.

•Learning objective (clear, measurable, describes WHO will do WHAT and HOW).
•Gradual Release of Responsibility (each phase clearly labeled and utilized).
•Differentiated instruction (how you will reach all learners).
•Evidence of purposeful rigor and student thinking: ◦At least two levels of Depth of Knowledge (DOK), clearly labeled.

•At least one purposeful question posed by teacher to promote critical thinking.
•Assessment FOR learning; ◦Provide two different ways to assess including authentic formative assessment.

•Use of technology that supports the learning outcome and instructional strategies.

Part 2: Description
In addition to the template, provide a one- to two-page synopsis of your plan, using APA format. Elaborate on areas that are difficult to show on the instructional plan, such as how you applied Webb’s Depth of Knowledge (DOK) to the activities and/or assessments.

•Describe the stages at which you will assess students, and explain how you will use this data to adjust your instruction and provide students with feedback.

•Last, discuss the technology you chose to integrate and the purpose it will serve in helping students meet the learning objective.

If you choose to design your own instructional plan combining elements of the samples provided, or locate one you believe is to be of equal quality, you must seek permission from your instructor prior to beginning your assignment. Cite at least three scholarly sources, including those prescribed for the week’s learning, CCSS and ISTE standards.

Write a well-developed and well supported 500 word essay on the roles of love and/or desire in Ovid’s version of the “The Story of Orpheus and Eurydice”. Explain how love and/ or desire are defined and expressed in the myth. You may want to use portions of Plato’s Symposium to define your terms. As you develop your argument, consider why Orpheus disobeys his orders and glances back to Eurydice. Be sure to support your argument with evidence from the text in forms of direct quotations and paraphrase.

The Benefits and Risks of Organisations using Celebrity Endorsement in Advertising

Research question: What are the benefits and risks when organisations use celebrity endorsement in their advertising.
Research objectives:
1 – Highlight situations when organisations make a choice to use celebrity endorsement and how they select celebrity endorsers
2 – Determine the benefits and the potential risks as a result of organisations using celebrity endorsement. Suggest ways to handle risks

Please note that there should be a literature review section (1,500 words). This will serve as the secondary research. There should be an analysis section that study the information in the secondary research and provide answers for the two objectives.

There are two attachments. One is a power point slide pack on celebrity endorsement (meaning of celebrity endorsement, examples of celebrity endorsement, theories etc). This is to help the writer. The other attachment is a word document with criteria to be followed when writing the dissertation.

Choice Vs constraint: Are the urban poor their own worst enemies

Earlier today during lecture, we watched a documentary entitled, “Baltimore: Anatomy of an American City,” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zz0nkKdkLqc) that detailed how the war on drugs and the consequent rise incarceration has impacted individuals (specifically, young African American men) who live in Baltimore. [If you did not attend lecture, please watch the video this week. It is available on YouTube]

Referencing the documentary, the reading material (Anderson, Liebow, Auyero) for this week:

Part 1: Are the urban poor their own worst enemies? Answer this question from the perspective of both Rational Actor Theory and Structured Socialization Theory.

Part 2: Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of these perspectives (Rational Actor Theory and Structured Socialization). Is there a middle ground? Are there alternatives for these young black men living in Baltimore? If so, what do these alternatives look like? If no alternatives exist, why not?
