Water Quality and Contamination

Utilize Rough Draft of the Final Lab Report Template to develop a rough draft for Final Lab Report, which covers “Lab 2: Water Quality and

Contamination.” Review the instructions for Final Lab Report assignment and ensure proper formatting and inclusion of all required

material. Using the template will ensure proper formatting. Use at least four scholarly sources.

The Rough Draft of the Final Lab Report must contain the following seven sections in this order:

Introduction – This section should discuss why the experiment was conducted. At a minimum, it should contain three paragraphs. One

paragraph must cover background information of similar studies that have already been done in the area. Citing existing literature from

similar experiments and explaining their results accomplish this. A second paragraph should provide an objective or a reason why the

experiment is being done. Why do we want to know the answer to the question we are asking? A third paragraph should provide the hypothesis

for each of the three experiments conducted.

Materials and Methods – This section should provide a detailed description of the materials used in the experiment and how they were used.

A step-by-step rundown of the experiment is necessary; however, it should be done in paragraph form, not in a list format. The description

should be exact enough to allow for someone reading the report to replicate the experiment, but it should be in your own words and not

simply copied and pasted from the lab manual.

Results – This section should include the data and observations from the experiment. Additionally, there should be at least one paragraph

explaining the data in paragraph form. There should be no personal opinions or discussion beyond the results of the experiments located

within this section.

Discussion – This section should interpret or explain the meaning of your data and provide conclusions. First, a paragraph should be

present that addresses whether the hypotheses were confirmed or denied and how you know this. Second, discuss the meaning of the findings

in this area utilizing scholarly sources to put the paper into context. For example, how do the results compare with the findings of

similar studies? Also, discuss any future questions arising from the results and how someone might test them. Finally, discuss if there

are any outside factors (i.e., temperature, contaminants, time of day) that could affect results. If so, how could you control for these

in the future?

Threads: Gender, Labor, and Power in the Global Apparel Industry

Threads: Gender, Labor, and Power in the Global Apparel Industry by Jane L. Collins
Chapter 3

1:Collins talks about a “hegemonic despotism” (Chapter 3, p. 99) where the threat of job loss becomes a means of control to undermine

unionization. Discuss this.
2:Collins tells us that United States corporations employ the vast majority of workers in export apparel factories in other parts of the

world. Thus, what do you think about her conclusion that Tultex lost out in competition not with Mexican or Chinese firms, but with U.S.

based companies that produced or subcontracted in those countries? (Chapter 3, p. 103)

Jane Collins

In her preface (p. xi), Jane Collins restates Jane Schneider’s interpretation of the fairy tale of Rumpelstiltskin. Schneider sees the

story as one that is about European’s ambivalence about early industrialization. What do you think of her interpretation? Can you think of

any other fairy tales that speak to major transformations in the world of work, or to local or global production and its consequences for

marriage, realms of power, or social relationships? If you were creating a fairy tale today to speak to changing patterns of work, what

story would you tell?

Case Study

Small primary school located in a coastal small town (student population of 352). Twenty per cent of the students come from farming families and the ten students with special needs are integrated into mainstream classrooms. Staff are experienced, many with over fifteen years teaching, and most have been at the school for five or more years. Some staff training in the characteristics of gifted students was conducted three years prior to the current situation and four staff PL sessions on differentiation were held last year. NAPLAN scores average in the middle to lower ranges. Those students identified by staff as working with high-level achievement are catered for by a once a week withdrawal program for an hour and the provision of extra-curricular opportunities in the sporting and cultural fields. Ongoing behaviour problems and underachievement of students are primary concerns of the staff and community. There is no current gifted policy at the school and the school counsellor is present at the school only two days a fortnight..
