Is Affirmative action ethical

In this lesson, you will do the following:
1. Identify a research topic of interest related to ethics.
2. Identify at least three resources directly pertaining to the topic.
3. Explain and evaluate the research in your writing.
4. Formulate and discuss your own ethical position on the topic.
I want my paper to be on affirmative action is it ethical, also i am an African American female.

The research paper is an important part of the course and is worth 20% of your grade. It provides
you with an opportunity to synthesize what you have learned from the course and apply that
knowledge and understanding to an individualized topic of interest to you;
Select one of the topics from the Unit 5 section of the discussion board. The topics will
continually evolve to keep up with current ethical debates. Select the topic which you feel most
connected to either personally or professionally, or both. The more interested you are in the
topic, the more you will enjoy and succeed in the project.
In approaching the topic, make sure you keep it focused on a particular ethical problem.
Articulate the opposing arguments both for and against the issue by utilizing ethical concepts
learned from the course, then state what you see as the stronger position(s) and what your own
personal conclusions are. You might want to use examples to illustrate your points (from your
personal experience, others you know, or from case studies in the literature). Write in your own
words, in a way you would normally, clearly, speak to a friend or peer. Avoid plagiarism. If you
quote a sentence or more from a source you must use quotations and a citation of where you got
it. Plagiarized papers will receive a zero.
The paper must be at least 7-8 double-spaced, typed pages (not including the reference section)
using font size 12. You must cite at least three sources taken from books and/or journal articles.
If you use information from the Internet, be sure it is reputable and that you cite your source as
best you can. A good reference book for APA format guidelines is the most recent edition of
Hodges’ Harbrace Handbook by W. B. Horner, S. S. Webb, and R. K. Miller. Page 2 of 2
WRITING GUIDELINES
The ability to write clearly and to make yourself understood is as important when submitting
written course assignments as it is when preparing a report for your boss. The quality of your
writing may make the difference between whether or not your instructor understands how well
you know the course material. Here are some tips to assist you:
1. Pay close attention to grammar, sentence structure, and other basics of good English
composition. Careless, sloppy writing can be overcome with a bit of work. If you feel that
you need assistance with your writing, talk to either your instructor or academic advisor.
Help is available.
2. Avoid the use of unexplained abbreviations and jargon. It is not in your best interest to
make your instructor guess at what you mean.
3. When you finish your assignment, or a portion of it, put it aside and then read it over later
to see if it makes sense to you and says what you want it to say. Adjust and improve the
wording as necessary. If your assignment were a presentation to coworkers or other
professionals, you would never be satisfied with the first draft.
4. If you are not sure whether the instructor will understand what you are saying, provide
more detail. Your written assignment is all he/she has by which to evaluate you.
5. On the other hand, do not try to obscure your lack of understanding with a smoke screen
of irrelevant dialogue. If you do not know the answer, go back and study it again. Do not
simply quote a lot of material from the book in hope that some of it will be right.
6. Watch for multipart questions in the written assignments, and be sure to answer all parts
and to answer what is asked.
7. Assignments should be submitted typed or word-processed. Take pride in your writing,
and it will be reflected both in the quality of your assignments and in your grades.
PLEASE NOTE: All graded assignments for this Unit should be grouped together and
submitted using the Assignment Submission form accessed from your course homepage or

Comprehensive Exam Questions

There are three questions that need attention. These are Questions 2, 3 and 4. I will attach a file that has the questions spelled out. Each question requires a 10-15 page response, as the attachment will spell out. I am leaving Question 1 on the attachment in case it helps get an idea for the other questions, but I do NOT want this answered as I already have a draft to work with. In fact, I will attach a copy of a draft of my response to Question 1 in case that comes in handy, as well as the articles that they presented to me. I am not sure they are applicable to the other questions or not. It is MUCH better to email me questions and communicate that way than phone calls.

Topic: Gifted Education in Western and Islamic Scholarship:
Converging for Islamic Education

The purpose of this thesis:
The purpose of the study is therefore to explore the balance of influences (Western and Islamic) that education policy and implementation strategy in the area of gifted education needs. In addition, it will explore the contribution of Islamic scholarship generally in Western scholarship in order to illustrate that there is a history of interface between the two scholarships.
In order to achieve the objectives, the thesis hopes to find a measure of parity and a mutual relationship between the two scholarships, at the same time, re-discover some of the roots of its own Islamic scholarship around the issue of giftedness (e.g. Al-Ghazali). The study will employ qualitative methodology, specifically document and conceptual analysis, and forms of historiography in order to achieve its goals.

Chapter 3
Examining the historical lens of gifted education

Introduction
This chapter examines the fundamental ideas regarding major themes in relation to gifted education across time. The extended discussion will be divided into three sections: within Western scholarship; within Islamic scholarship; and, across the two approaches. The chapter will use “interpreter analysis” in order to identify the key concepts which emerged from the literature. These concepts are being discussed and understood to establish an argument from an historical lens in order to identify the major educational themes between Western scholarship and traditional Islamic scholarship.
1. Within the Western scholarship. Done.
2. Within Islamic scholarship. Done.
3. Across the two approaches. This task!
The section will use interpret analysis “historical hermeneutic” in order to identify key concepts that emerged from literature view of the two approaches to establish argument from a historical lens in order to identify the major educational themes between western scholarship and traditional Islamic scholarship.
In this section I will discuss the Western and Islamic scholarship view concerning gifted education with an emphasis on the major themes, which emerged over time across the two approaches. Also will follow an examination of the theories of relevant scholars and philosophers. I will also compare and contrast their thoughts around similar themes and offer reasons why their opinions differed despite their addressing the same issue. This section will also consider the contribution of these views to gifted education and the influence they have brought to bear on the study of gifted education.
The major themes that will be discussed in this section in relation to Westernand Islamic scholarship are
Interpreter analysis:
“Use a long discussion, argument analyzing interpreter to discuss, the following major themes that derived from the two approaches literature view:
(1) Knowledge, (2) Intellect and Intelligence, (3) Spiritual and Education, (4) Emotional and Education, (5) Moral and Education

Discussion way, for example:
Regarding to the theme” concepts”, are the scholars thought about that theme similar or deferent, why they similar? or why they deferent? What we learn from that to gifted education?

2. Discussion: the discussion 5 pages.
3.Conclusion: one up to 2 paragraphs about the out comes from this the discussion, for gifted education in Islamic context time.

60% of the information you will need for the discussion you will find in the “Islamic scholar literature view and Western Scholar literature view and from the Chapter 3 ”, also you need to find another information from other sources, for the analyzing, reasons, link, connections.. etc

Throw the Interpreter analysis remember, to stay within these circles only:

1. Trying to explain why their opinions “the scholars” , thought about these concepts similar or different, what we learn from that to gifted education now, using historical lens, reasons, links, connections.
2. Have to mention that the interest of the themes: knowledge, intelligence, wisdom…etc have been started at Greek scholars, and developed over time up to Modern time, considering two shifting time:
2.1. From Greek era to Islamic scholars, AlKindi, Farabi, Alghazali ….etc mention this shifting and the influences and contributions of Islamic scholars.
2.2. From Islamic scholars to western scholars, then to modern time. by Thomas Aquinas, mention this shifting.
3. Always refer and related to the literature view, and to the thesis objective which is “gifted education”.

Analyzing interpreting questions and guide:
For the influences and the contributions between Greek philosophers and Islamic scholars “AlKindi, Farabi, Alghazali..etc “and Mediaeval time scholars such “Thomas Aquinas” and others, AlKindi, Farabi, Alghazali ….
I attached an a very important chapter from this reference:
Russell, B. (2008). The History of Western Philosophy. Routledge: New York.
Please read it and use the information for this important links, connections, influences and the contributions between the scholars.

It is only 9 pages.

Note there are deference about writing Islamic Scholars Names in this reference such “Alghazali”, written there as “Algazel”
