Data Privacy

The current launch date of Google Glass to the public seems now to be later in 2014. When launched in HK, the application of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (cap 486) will have to be carefully considered. One section which will require consideration is s. 52, Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (cap 486), which broadly exempts individuals from complying with the PD(P)O in the respect of various categories of personal data:
‘s 52 Domestic purposes
Personal data held by an individual and-
(a) concerned only with the management of his personal, family or household affairs; or (b) so held only for recreational purposes,
is exempt from the provisions of the data protection principles, Parts 4 and 5 and sections 36 and 38(b).’

Critically discuss the likely application and limitations of this section in relation to Google Glass and other similar wearable devices, and outline any potential amendments to s. 52 or other provisions of the PD(P)O which you consider may be desirable in order to address any gaps or concerns identified by you.
Starting points for research:
– Google Glass website
– Paul Roth, ‘Data Protection Meets Web 2.0: Two Ships Passing in the Night’ (2010) 33 UNSW Law Journal 532 – this contains some comparative discussion of domestic exemptions, including HK’s s.52.

Looking at your company at organizational level, or department level critically assess the operational methods and strategies adopted to provide the product(s) in a way that give(s) maximum satisfaction to the customers or clients.

A good answer will identify the criteria applied by the customer in assessing satisfaction i.e. the order-winning and order-qualifying criteria. You should
a) define the principal operations tasks to satisfy these criteria
b) analyze the process strategies and procedures employed to ensure that these tasks are carried out as effectively as possible.

The organization may not have an operations/production department defined in such terms, but it will still produce something for the use of somebody.

The report, excluding appendices, should be 3000 words +/- 10% in length. For your guidance, it will consist of:
a) An introduction in which you describe your organization and what you and your department’s contribution is to the organization.
b) An accurate description of who the customers are – they may be external or internal – and what they expect from the output in terms of the broad market criteria discussed in the recommended text (Slack). From this, using the models in the text, you should be able to identify what the operations objectives are. This should then suggest the sort of process that ought to be operating. (The different process types and their ability to meet the range of operations objectives are explained at length in the module material).
c) You should then describe the process in these terms and explain how and why it helps or hinders in the achievement of the operations objectives i.e. its ability to supply a product which meets the customer’s needs. This is the essential analysis that shows your ability to apply the module content to your experience.
d) Having analyzed the process, describe what changes you recommend to make – and explain why these are necessary in terms of improving the ability to meet the operations objectives. You need to give some guidance on the feasibility of the changes, how they ought to be implemented, a cost benefit etc., etc., where these are possible given the case organization context.

Persimmons & Cherrylog Road

Context- The critical context is analysis of two poems whose poetic voices offer portraits of individuals deeply tied to specific cultural landscape. Your reading of the poem keeps that knowledge at its forefront.

The Question/Task- Your essay will use its close reading of Lee’s Persimmons and Dickey’s Cherrylog Road to argue how each poems develops two specific but related themes for each.(For example, two thematic insights connected to the power of memory). The essay will have an introduction where the poems’ cultural context is described as are its denoted and connoted content(an overview). This richly specific overview leads to sentences that state the essays themes/thesis. Your essay will interpret each poem separately, thus your essay will have six body paragraphs that will develop two properly supported and interpretatively insightful arguments (these interpretations MUST use interpolation as their principle interpretative method). The conclusion will very briefly summarize the essays’ insights.

The Essay- Your essay must present a clear, developed reading and its own coherent analysis to argue for its interpretation of these poems and the development of two related themes in each poem. It is NOT sufficient to advance a broad reading of the poems. You need to present both a particularly focused reading and use that reading and the technique of interpolation to develop your argument.

Writing Concerns to Remember-
Use the simple present tense and active voice
This is not an autobiography or a manifesto. Use the third person position of address
No "seems, maybe" or "all, every" claims.
Have an argument, a thesis and use Statements of Argument to introduce every body paragraph.
Avoid passive voice; rhetorical questions and hypothetical arguments.
Be specific, use evidence that the poem presents.
No reference to "talk," this is writing.
Use appropriate formulations to refer to the poem, its images and structures (i.e., no reference to authorial intention or reader response.)
Carefully PROOFREAD.

Introduction should introduce both poems. Do one poem and then the other. First three paragraphs is the first poem and the next three is the second poem and a brief summary for paragraph 7. This is NOT a compare and contrast essay. And this essay MUST have two specific related themes for each poem. Also talk about their culture.

Linguistic

Part One: Morphemes, Bound & Free
For the first half of this assignment you’ll need to identify the morphemes in the text that follows. Begin by separating morphemes with slashes then list all the morphemes and classify them as free or bound. Keep in mind that free morphemes must be related to the original word. For example "firetruck" consists of two free morphemes "fire" and "truck," but "some" is a single morpheme despite the fact that "so" and "me" could be considered individual free morphemes. This is because the meaning of "some" is not based on the morphemes "so" and "me."

The capture would be performed robotically, and the relocated asteroid would become a destination for astronauts to explore—and, possibly, for space entrepreneurs to mine.
