college education and projected future employment

Develop a three- to four-page analysis (excluding the title and reference pages) on the projected return on investment for your college education and projected future employment. This analysis will consist of two parts:

Part 1: Explain how you made the decision to pursue an education in Business or Finance. Include a summary of expenses related to that decision, such as: cost of tuition, cost of books, the interest you may pay on any loans, and any other associated expenses.

Part 2: Conduct research on your desired occupation and identify how much compensation (return) you expect to earn. How long will it take to pay back the return on this investment? Be sure to consider the trade-off between the cost of education and the expected return on investment.

The research paper should be comprehensive and include specific examples. The paper should be formatted according to APA 6th edition style guidelines and must include at least two scholarly sources from the Ashford University Library or other scholarly sources.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.

The Relativity of Deviance

The material that should be to answer these questions should come from the Books: Cura, John. 2011.The Relativity of Deviance 2nd Edition. Pine Forest Press.
AND  Goode, Erich and D. Angus Vail. 2008. Extreme Deviance. Los Angeles: Pine Forest Press
Outside information is ok as long as it is cited but preferably most of answers should come from the readings in the two books listed.

This is the final paper for class and should be typed in 12 point Times New Roman font.
Double spaced. Name will be placed in the header with the page number.
When typing this paper be sure to use the following format for every question:
Section______: Type the question you are answering
Then answer the question.
A reference page and internal citations is expected. If you use videos as support for an answer be sure to note that as well.

SECTION ONE: You must answer all of the questions in this section. You can do this in an outline or essay form. Please address all the parts of the question and answer as fully as you can. If you use resources please note the resources with internal citations.
1.) Discuss the relationship between Social Power and Deviance.
2.) Discuss why it is helpful to view deviant behavior in terms of roles.
3.) Discuss social norms. Some people have argued that social norms were designed to ensure society’s survival and to protect its members from harm. Is this true? Is this why some forms of behavior have been condemned?
4.) Describe the normative, statistical, absolutist, and reactivist conception or definitions of deviance. Provide an example of each.

SECTION TWO: Choose three of these questions and answer them in essay format. Each answer should be one to two pages. Please address all the parts of the question and answer as fully as you can. If you use resources please note the resources with internal citations.
1.) Jim is a member of a swingers group. He and his wife go to swinger parties where they have sex with different sex partners. Discuss how Jim and his wife might utilize all of the different techniques for managing stigma.
2.) Is suicide universally condemned? If so, why? If not, provide examples of the lack of universal consensus in different places over time. (It may be helpful to use Durkheim’s views when addressing this question).
3.) Tattoo Collectors and modern primitives share some practices and differ in others. If you were explaining the world of “extreme tattooing” to someone who knows nothing about it, how would you explain the differences between two different segments of what seems like an unified world? Your answer should include a discussion of labeling the self and identity work.
4.) People who claim to have been visited by E.T’s are often labeled as mentally unbalance, but when “normal” people recount odd dreams to one another, very few would consider these dreamers mentally ill. What is the sociological difference between an “abductee” and a “normal” person? Your answer should include a discussion of Primary and Secondary deviance as well as “master status”.
5.) How do the popular, “insider” and sociological views of S&M differ? Discuss the implications of these differences. (Using Goffman’s concept of Framing may help answering this question)

SECTION THREE: This is the final question. You should use this question to display your knowledge about the sociology of deviant behavior. Its expected to be 2-3 pages to fully address the question. If you use resources please not the resources with internal citations.
1.) Choose one of the topics from the chapters of the books we used for the class. Using one of the Theories of Deviance describe your chosen topic and how it is situated in the Sociology of Deviance. You can use images and icons from popular media to help bolster your discussion.

Racial Prejudice and Profiling

I have attached various quotes about the case; most of them were said by prominent people of that time period. You may refer to one or more of the quotes, use them to support your thesis and also to introduce your own essay, as well as for “evidence” of what people thought at that time. You can also follow the links to read more on the trial that is written in a summary to help you get all the facts straight. I suggest that  you consider the following to write your essay. Choose ONE of the following:
1. Use the quotes to support your thesis, to strengthen your ideas or, if you disagree, to write an essay that argues against the  selected quotes. Do some basic research on the author of the quotes, beginning with the “Spartacus” link.
2. Go back over the chapter and analyze it closely. This is known as “close analysis.” As you analyze what the authors say, use your own judgement to support or refute their ideas; do some basic research , if necessary. But you can also apply these quotes to certain aspects of the reading.
3. Contrast and compare other recent events; for example: Racial Prejudice and Profiling: Compare cases that are different in nature but have a similar issue: MLK, Malcolm X, fro example, or even Rodney King, as well as the tragic case of Trayvon Martin. The quotes may also apply to these issues.

DESIGN STRATEGY, OBJECTIVES & RATIONALE

—————
INSTRUCTION DESIGN STRATEGY, OBJECTIVES & RATIONALE

The learning process will use a one-on-one instructional strategy where the students will be guided by tutors or instructors every three days of the week. The rest of the week will be used for application of the concepts and principles learn in class with online assistance by the tutors. In order to gauge the progress of the learning program, the students will take regular quizzes focusing on the understanding and application of the learning program. The pillar of this instructional learning process is the set or group of objectives laid down to ensure progress and advancement.

The first set of objectives concerns access and security of the learning system. Since the system is computer-based, the stakeholders aim to ensure ease of access for the students/learners. In addition, the designers of this learning program aim to ensure that the learning system is secure. Security will be ensured using password protection whereby the learners and tutors will be required to input unique codes to gain access. This security measure ensures the credibility and safety of the information contained in the learning system. Implementation of the ARCS technique in this stage ensures that access to the system and its security arouses the participants’ attention, is relevant to the context and content, motivates confidence in the system, and leads to their satisfaction.

The second set of objectives relates to the information that is contained in the system. It should be easy to understand, an aspect ensured by proper presentation and formatting of information. Moreover, information contained in the system should be engaging. This is ensured through the quizzes found at the end of each chapter, meant to determine the understanding of the learner and the effectiveness of the tutor. Using the ARCS model, this set of goals and objectives is gauged to ensure that the information contained in the system attracts the attention of the learner, is relevant, motivates confidence in the students, and satisfies their learning needs.

Letter to Humanity

Guidelines: Letter to Humanity

The Earth is always conversing. Perhaps not in a manner people are perceptive of or accustomed to, but converse it does. For example, the deafening silence at sunrise when a forest should be reverberating with a chorus of birds, or a pungent smell emanating from a river used to supply drinking water to millions of city residents, or the exposure of darker land surfaces as glaciers and ice sheets melt and retreat. The Earth has much to say to those who can identify and decipher the telltale signs playing out on the planet’s surface. To be ecoliterate is to know the language of place.

Requirements

You are the Earth. You are writing a letter to humanity to convey an important ecological message. Structure your letter around the following questions:

1. Who are you speaking to, humanity in general or a particular group?
2. What does it mean to live on Earth?
3. What are humans doing (or not doing)?
4. What guidance are you endeavoring to impart to humanity?

Student Identity

Stipulate the following details at the top right hand corner of the first page of your letter:

First and last name/surname
Course title (Environmental Problems & Solutions)
Class time (MWF, 10:10-11:00 AM)
Semester (Spring 2014)

Format

● Length: 3 pages of typed text, excluding maps, tables, or images/graphics. You are welcome to submit letters of additional word length. Note: 3 full pages as a minimum, not 2¼ or 2½.
● Font: size 12.
● Ling spacing: double-spaced.
● Printing: you are welcome to print double-sided.

References & Citations

The following must be cited in the body of your text (in-text citing):

—    Direct quotes.
