Personal/professional profile

Personal statement. Address why you have chosen social work. Identify and discuss what strengths you could bring to social work and your understanding of what challenges you may face in a BSW social work program. (2 pages) use only peer-reviewed sources and must follow APA guidelines for referencing and formatting the essay. Dear, This is some of my thoughts and a brief idea about my previous profession, and some of the points that I would like to see in my personal/professional profile. I would like to use my previous profession and experience as a strength and how I have a strong base that will help me to take one step up towards the social work field. I am positive that you can rewrite it in a better professional way that will fulfill all the requirements. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope… and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. – Robert F. Kennedy When I read this quote from RFK, what touches me the most is the word Hope. Helping others to identify their hopes, working with them to achieve them, and most importantly giving the energy and stamina to keep these hopes in site is what leads me to my destiny and my reason to be. It is with this in mind that I have chosen to continue my career of given to others by having the desire to join the Bachelor degree for Social Work, after my 14 years to being a teacher in Dubai, working with kindergarten kids from different nationalities. Working with kids has always been my passion in life, and now I feel it is time to take it to the next level were I can put a smile on children’s face and contribute in protecting them and leading them to a safe zone. Since my arrival to Edmonton, I have strived at finding volunteering work…. Last year I volunteered at Malmo school helping kids with learning difficulties and behavioral issues. This year, I applied to the Mennonite center to offer my help regarding the Syrian refugees, but unfortunately I didn’t get lucky yet due to overload applications. So, now I joined this group on Facebook called Edmonton Refugee Volunteers and am looking forward to be part of their team. Strengths and challenges: coming from a teaching profession background will add a lot to my social work career since we both need to be passionate, caring, giving and helping others to achieve their goals and to feel good about themselves. In fact, we have a lot of common when it comes to the Canadian core social work values such as, respecting diversity, integrity, confidentiality and competence in professional practice. I know that these professions can be very hectic and challenging, but once you see the positive outcome, it can be very rewarding when it comes to moral and humanity and it will be worth it more than any materialistic gain. I am aware of the challenges that I am going to face and I feel that with my previous experience, am capable to deal with it in a professional way and to the best of my client’s interests.

The Book Paradise Lost by John Milton

For Milton, “home” is not a place so much as a set of rightly ordered relationships. Your essay should examine how Adam and Eve’s relationship embodies both homemaking and homelessness in the epic. Compare and contrast at least one example of their flourishing relationship (being “at home”) with one example of their disordered relationship (being “homeless”). Your thesis should answer the question, “What does Adam and Eve’s relationship reveal about the foundations of home and the causes of homelessness?”
