The length of the paper will be determined by the quality of the work as researched and contributed by each member. Since this is a research paper, the document should include footnotes, endnotes or parenthetic citations with the appropriate “Works Cited” page. Proper citations should be included and style (MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.) is up to the group as long as formatting is consistent throughout the paper. You should not use such publications as magazines or newspapers such as Newsweek, or Reader’s Digest, National Geographic or like publications. Peer reviewed journal articles and scholarly texts should be your primary research sources. Additionally, on-line sources and web sources should be used with caution. Encyclopedias, dictionaries, newspaper articles and Wikipedia are not to be used. Direct quotes from sacred texts such the Bible, Qur’an, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita or other holy books are acceptable for quotations but not considered academic sources. Also, avoid long quotations from any source. When lengthy quotations are used, they should be properly formatted and explained in context. At minimum, the final document should contain at least ten (10) internal citations in the paper that correspond to the works cited or bibliographic page. Note: Include PowerPoint and other visuals, handouts, etc. as supplemental material; however these are not acceptable as the main written narrative or final document. SPECIAL NOTE: All papers must have internal citations. This means that you must have either direct quotes, paraphrases, allusions or any combination properly sourced and cited in the body of the document to support the research paper. A Works Cited or Bibliographic page must have support for the internal citations. Papers without internal citations are considered opinion papers and will not be read.
